The BBC’s The Traitors returns today for season 2… Fans were astonished to learn that one of the actors had joined a different TV programme in search of romance.
The inaugural series of the UK edition of the programme, which aired on BBC One in November 2022, introduced fans to a game riddled with deception, paranoia, and cunning, all overseen by host Claudia Winkleman.
The goal is for the ‘Faithfuls’ to find the hidden ‘Traitors’ among them while simultaneously working together to build up a monetary reward that they’ll hopefully win in the end if they’ve been able to expel the proper persons from their roundtable.
Aaron Evans was one of the guys who made it all the way to the finish, dividing a jackpot of more than £100,000, and it turns out that he has been eating at the First Dates restaurant since his big victory.
The Channel 4 show returned on Tuesday, January 2, with maître d’ Fred Sirieix and barman Merlin Griffiths welcome hopeful singletons to their brand new restaurant in Bath, where they launched on the exhilarating and nerve-racking possibility of going on first dates.
At the start of the first episode of the new series, a teaser was shown to inform viewers what they may anticipate in upcoming installments… which is where they first saw Aaron.
‘Catching up on #FirstDates and Aaron from The Traitors popped up in the series preview!’ Ryan wrote on X.
‘Aaron from The Traitors on First Dates?! 😱’ added another viewer, who goes by the handle @Wandoful.
Aaron mentioned that he’d had lots of fans slide into his DMs when the first season of The Traitors aired in the UK.
‘I’ve had a lot of love and a lot of mums offering hugs up. There’s a fan page right now of me in trousers,’ he told The Sun at the time.
The former real estate agent also revealed that he was leaving his job to travel and would be filming his experiences on YouTube.
When asked if he was going to pursue any reality or dating series following The Traitors, he spoke up about his current TV pursuits in a recent video aired on the site.
‘I’ve gone on First Dates and I’ve also gone on Mastermind. However, I do not know when they’re going to be posted,’ he said.
‘I believe that First Dates will be out soon, but I’ve not been told an exact date yet. So I’ll keep you guys updated as of when.’
Aaron, Hannah Byczkowski, Meryl Williams, and Wilf Webster made it to the finish of the inaugural series of The Traitors, which aired on December 22, 2022.
Wilf was uncovered as a Traitor at the last minute, much to the surprise of the other three candidates, who divided the £101,050 reward.
The Traitors begins tonight at 9pm on BBC One, with the first three episodes being made available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
First Dates is available to watch on Channel 4.
