The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived, and we know where we’re going in season three.
According to rumors, the third season of the successful HBO show, which has previously starred Theo James and Aubrey Plaza, is now filming in Thailand.
After season one was recorded at the Four Seasons Resort Maui in Wailea, and season two brought us to Sicily and was filmed at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace in the town of Taormina, fans have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the location.
The Four Seasons hotels in Thailand are located in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, and the Golden Triangle, so whether the backdrop will be city, forest, or beach is yet unknown.
Despite this, Variety says that many sources have verified that the show would be filmed in Thailand.
Fans are pretty ecstatic over the rumours, with one writing: ‘White Lotus 3 being set in thailand is so cool omg. I wonder how the location is going to be like’.
‘White Lotus Thailand is gonna giveeeee,’ another penned, while a third simply wrote: ‘White Lotus Thailand makes sense’.
This follows several indications regarding the next location, with creator Mike White hinting that it might be located someplace in the East.
He addressed speculation towards the end of last year, saying: ‘The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex.’
Mike continued to Variety: ‘I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality.
‘It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.’
Mike had previously told Deadline: ‘I think it’d be fun to maybe go to a whole different continent. You know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia, something crazy like that, that would be fun.’
Meanwhile, Mike’s close friend and Jackass star Johnny Knoxville threw a curveball when he’revealed’ it would be shot in Tokyo.
He had said that he had been in Tokyo with Mike, before adding: ‘I think that’s where the next… oh, I’m not giving anything away.
‘I might call him again as soon as this is over.’
