Although the Big Brother house will be revamped for the relaunch, one iconic aspect is slated to stay.
It’s been nearly two decades since the reality show initially aired in 2000, and it’s been five years since the last season.
Housemates like as Kate Lawler, Alison Hammond, and Josie Gibson became popular names as the season progressed.
However, other participants were involved in some contentious situations along the road, with many stemming from shenanigans in the hot tub.
Pictures from the set, which is currently under construction, have emerged ahead of the new season, showing a hot tub in the heart of the garden.
However, if prior experiences are any indication, there will be plenty of attention-grabbing situations when roommates take a swim.
‘The hot tub is almost as important a part of the house as the Diary Room,’ a source has said.
‘Fans will be delighted it’s being reinstated, particularly as some of the biggest controversies seemed to centre around it.
‘There was the fear the producers may have lost some much-loved elements in their big show reboot,’ they added when speaking to The Sun.
‘But they clearly see the tub as a key part of the BB infrastructure and a potential source of mischief in the new series.’
Previous seasons of the programme included racy and humorous scenes in the hot tub.
One of the most memorable occurred in 2005, when Makosi Musambasi became pregnant after an experience under the sea with eventual show winner Anthony Hutton.
Michelle Bass made a plea for ‘no nude jacuzzi-ness’ a year before when she observed her boyfriend Stuart staring at the girls as they stripped down for a swim.
Then, in 2018, former MP Ann Widdecombe threw caution to the wind and jumped into the Celebrity Big Brother tub with ballet dancer Wayne Sleep.
The relaunch teaser was published this week, and it included some subtle digs at incoming presenters AJ Odudu and Will Best.
In the video, the couple are sitting in an RV, looking through their phones, when Will begins humming the theme music and tapping his feet, and AJ soon joins in.
They start bouncing up and down and dancing as they get more into it, but a voice over says they’re ‘butchering a classic’.
Big Brother returns to ITV2 and ITVX this October.
