This Morning executives are apparently looking for two famous presenters to replace Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
The long-time host of the ITV breakfast show, who has hosted it since 2009, announced last week that she will be leaving the show.
Making a social media announcementHolly, 42, said it was a ‘tough farewell’ and thanked her ‘dedicated and supportive’ fans.
According to rumours, ITV executives are interested in Good Morning Britain hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway.
An insider told MailOnline: ‘Ben and Kate are adored by the public when they host together. Fans love them.
‘While the bosses love Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson, they know they need someone more heavyweight. Kate is a journalist yet is also funny and warm.’ ITV’s head of daytime Emma Gormley has been put in charge of finding the new team, which she knows she has to get right first time.’
Among the couples apparently being considered are Emma and Matt Willis, comedian Joel Dommett and his wife Hannah Cooper, who recently had their first child together, and Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy.
Along with two new presenters, ITV executives are reportedly pushing for a ‘full renovation’ of the show, including a renovated set.
‘Holly’s decision to leave has sent shockwaves through the corridors of power at ITV, but the feeling now is that change must be made — and this is the impetus needed.
‘This Morning boss Martin Frizell will continue to lead the charge and is working tirelessly to give viewers what they want — a warm, buzzy, feel-good magazine show, marshalled by two fresh new anchors,’ a source told The Sun.
Holly’s resignation follows the departure of her long-time presenter Phillip, who admitted to lying about having an affair with a younger colleague.
Her co-stars have since sent their well-wishes after her exit, with Alison writing: ‘This is a very sad day! Love you.’
Craig Doyle added: ‘We are so supportive of you and we love you to bits, we just wish it didn’t end this way. Its a sad day for everyone. 💚.’
Friday host Dermot O’Leary penned: ‘Nothing but love and respect for you and yours. X.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
