Dillon Passage of Tiger King has been enjoying his newfound independence after his ex-husband Joe Exotic ‘finally’ signed their divorce papers.
Dillon, 25, initially stated in March 2021 that he had made the painful decision to divorce the former zookeeper and star, who is presently serving a 21-year prison sentence.
And, more than a year later, it appears that proceedings are nearing completion as he awaits the judge’s decision.
Dillon took to Instagram to mark the milestone moment where he admitted to feeling ‘so free’.
‘WOOHOO! 🎉,’ he captioned the post. ‘I don’t think anybody can understand the excitement I feel today! Divorce papers have finally been signed by the other party and I FEEL SO FREE!

‘It’s been a battle and tens of thousands of dollars spent over the past year and a half trying to be released from my own kind of prison but it was all so worth it!’
He continued: ‘Excited to move forward with my life and with my amazing partner John @devarti_j who supports me in all things! Next step: engineering school!’
Dillon’s friends and fans rallied around him to celebrate the update.
‘I am so excited for you to take on this new chapter of life and so proud of your determination, perseverance & strength through all of this. Incredible things are coming your way my love,’ one said.
Another added: ‘Congratulations bro I’m so happy for you and you deserve be happy.’

Exotic’s official Twitter account also addressed the news, and posted: ‘Just waiting on the final order from the Judge.’
In June, it was reported that Exotic, 59, had rekindled a romance with his former partner, Seth Posey, following his split from Dillon.
Speaking in an audio clip from behind bars, the television star said: ‘Me and Seth have decided to pick up where we left off.
‘I don’t expect anyone to respect this but I would like to have everyone let me just be happy for a change.’
Meanwhile, Dillon went public with his relationship with John last July.
Exotic has five spouses, beginning with Brian Rhyne in the late 1980s. In 2001, he died as a result of HIV complications.
He subsequently met his next collaborator, JC Hartpence, who assisted him in developing his travelling performance.
Exotic’s third and fourth spouses were John Finlay and Travis Maldonado, who appeared on Tiger King. They married in a three-way ceremony in 2014, but Finlay left less than a year later.
Maldonado died tragically in 2017 after accidently shooting himself. Exotic later met Passage on a dating app.
Dillon, who appeared on Tiger King, was his most recent husband.
Tiger King is available to stream on Netflix.
