Tommy Fury is on cloud nine after confounding many people’s expectations by defeating Jake Paul in the latter’s first professional boxing loss.
He was overcome with emotion as he dedicated his triumph to his fiancée Molly-Mae Hague and their newborn baby Bambi, referring to his partner as his ‘Mrs’.
After winning a split decision in Saudi Arabia on Sunday night, the 23-year-old stated, ‘For the past two and a half years, this has been all that’s occupied my life. I broke a rib, was refused entry, and everyone assumed I was terrified.
‘Tonight, I established my own legacy. ‘My name is Tommy Fury.’
‘I want to dedicate this fight to my new baby girl Bambi at home and my Mrs, I love you,’ he concluded. I’m excited to see you.
‘This fight was for you. It’s for you Bambi, I love you.’
Tommy went on to say that for the last two and a half years, he had a ‘dream’ and a ‘vision’ that he would win the battle, but ‘no one believed me’.
‘Now I can stand up and everyone can see. ‘I had the world on my shoulders in my first main event when I was 23 years old, and I came through,’ he said.
Before addressing his opponent’s’rematch clause’ and prospective desire to meet him again in the ring, the fighter revealed that he saw his battle with Jake as a ‘world title’ showdown.
Tommy stated that he is ‘100%’ open to a rematch, pledging that he will ‘only go stronger, bigger, and better,’ adding, ‘If he wants a rematch, bring it on.’
As Jake voiced his’respect’ for Tommy in his own post-match interview, he also stated that he wasn’t sure he agreed with the ultimate decision while being booed by the audience.
Tommy’s daughter Bambi was born just a few weeks ago, nearly four years after he and Molly-Mae initially met and fell in love on Love Island, where they finished as runners-up.
As the athlete initially entered the arena, he wore a robe with his daughter’s name engraved on the front in glittering gold writing.
Molly-Mae reported before of the battle that she video phoned Tommy with their kid to wish him luck.
‘Calls with dadda. Tonight is YOUR night. Get the job done and get home my boy,’ she wrote in the caption.
‘We are so beyond proud of you. Your team forever. Let’s go!’
Tyson Fury, Tommy’s half-brother, celebrated his sibling’s victory on Instagram by uploading artwork of the winner on his Story, having been with him in Saudi Arabia to encourage him on his journey.
