The first trailer for the highly anticipated drama Feud: Capote vs The Swans has enthralled viewers with its’spot on epic’ cast.
The Ryan Murphy show about Truman Capote betraying his friendship circle of aristocratic New York ladies by disclosing their deepest secrets features a who’s who of Hollywood that reads like the Met Gala guest list.
Tom Hollander stars as the author of In Cold Blood, while Naomi Watts, Chloe Sevigny, Ally McBeal icon Calista Flockhart, and Diane Lane as well-to-do Manhattanites.
If that wasn’t enough star power for you, you’re in luck because the eight-episode limited series has even more luminaries.
Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald from The Breakfast Club, Jessica Lange, and Russell Tovey from Being Human will also give strong performances.
Fortunately, the show’s first official teaser, which delivers a tantalising taste of the glitz and glamour of 1970s New York, has given fans a taste of what’s to come before the series premieres on January 31.
‘Oh My God? This looks AMAZING,’ Tres Tiffany enthused on X, having watched the two-and-a-half-minute clip.
Sarah added: ‘Two things a Ryan Murphy production can be counted on for – spot-on epic casting & visually stunning cinematography.’
Echoing Sarah’s sentiments about the casting, Chris raved: ‘What kind of sorcery is this cast omg.’

The trailer begins with numerous glimpses of The Swans’ opulent lifestyles, such as chauffeur-driven automobiles, head-to-toe expensive outfits, private art gallery trips and rural residences replete with horses, while a voice-over reveals their days are filled with’sex, money and infinite adventure.’
However, the catty side of their friendships quickly emerges, with the ladies making snide and vicious remarks about one other, all while Truman, unbeknownst to them, is maintaining a record of all the gossip.
However, as the teaser indicates, once he discloses all of their secrets, The Swans’ are seen brutally scheming their revenge, which mostly comprises ‘cutting him off from high society’ since it would ‘destroy him’.
Capote surrounded himself with a group of society’s most prominent ladies in real life. The Swans were a group of wealthy, attractive socialites that marked a bygone age of high society in New York.
The author of Breakfast at Tiffany’s ingratiated himself into their lives, befriending and confiding in them, only to betray them by producing a thinly disguised fictionalisation of their lives, exposing their most private secrets.
When an excerpt from Capote’s planned magnum opus, Answered Prayers, was published in Esquire, it effectively destroyed his relationship with his swans, expelled him from the high society he so adored, and sent him into a spiral of self-destruction from which he would never recover.
Feud: Capote vs. The Swans is the second season of the anthology television series Feud, after Bette and Joan, and stars Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon as duelling Hollywood luminaries Joan Crawford and Bette Davis.
Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans premieres on FX and Hulu on Wednesday January, 31 at 10pm.
