Alan Ritchson has stated that he lives a lifestyle that will surprise viewers, especially given that he appears in the number one programme on Amazon Prime Video.
This month, the actor returned to the streaming site to reprise his main role in season 2 of the action-packed Reacher series based on Lee Child’s books.
Alan was cast as the renowned Jack Reacher after Tom Cruise played the character in two films, and his portrayal has received great acclaim.
While some may anticipate the 41-year-old to live in a sprawling house as a result of his immense wealth, he, his wife, and his children have created a mobile home for themselves.
The Smallville star revealed that being away from his family for ‘extended periods on site’ was ‘challenging’ on both him and them, so they devised a solution that worked for them.
‘Today, my wife, Cat, and I live with our three boys on the road. Cat and I met in high school and were married in 2006,’ he told The Wall Street Journal.
‘Being away from my family for long stretches on location was hard on them and me. So Cat and I recently sold our Florida house and we now live in Airbnbs and hotels while I’m on set. Cat home-schools the boys, who are 11, 9 and 7.’
The way he conducts his life with his wife and children seems extremely different from his own childhood, which he described as’super rigid’.
Alan ended up obtaining a job, purchasing a used Toyota pick-up truck, and sleeping on a mattress in the back of the car until his father ‘begged’ him to return home.
Alan made his cinematic debut in the 2006 horror thriller The Butcher, before returning seven years later as District 1 victor and returning tribute Gloss in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
In addition to Smallville, he has appeared in Blue Mountain State, New Girl, 90210, CSI: Miami, Black Mirror, Fast X, and Supergirl.
In a post shared on Instagram, Alan’s wife Cat explained that every night that her husband was away from home while filming, ‘he would FaceTime us so that he could read to the boys at their bedtime’.
‘It didn’t matter how bloody, muddy, or cold he was… he made his family the priority over anyone and anything else. And no matter what the outside world throws at him, I know he always will,’ she wrote.
Reacher seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch on Prime Video.
