Vanessa Feltz was driven to relate her personal story after being inspired by a caller on today’s This Morning.
The TV host, 61, divorced long-term husband Ben Ofoedu in February after 16 years of marriage, following reports that he had cheated on her many times.
Vanessa was able to provide counsel from experience when a caller revealed their own grief during an agony aunt section on the ITV morning programme.
They told Vanessa that they were suffering, especially since they had to leave their shared house.
‘I’m going through something a bit similar having just had a breakup,’ Vanessa began.
‘People can tell you all sorts. They usually do like “you’re well rid of”, “good riddance”, and “you’re better off”, and yeah sure, in the rational mind.’

Vanessa, on the other hand, mentioned how things are frequently more complicated than that.
‘The heart is a complicated thing. A relationship that you believed in is a big thing and when it’s over you can give yourself a million pep talks, you walk the walk, you go out and have fun but there’s still that thing.’
She then focused her efforts on assuring the caller.
‘Everything you’re feeling is reasonable and you’re entitled to feel it. It’s a damn shame he treated you that way.’
Holly Willoughby, the show’s host, then expressed her support with a ‘Here, here.’
During this interaction, ITV CEO Dame Carolyn McCall spoke before a parliamentary committee, where she was interrogated by MPs regarding her awareness of Phillip Schofield‘s connection with a young runner, as well as asked to address charges of ‘toxicity’ at This Morning.
Asked about the accusations of the culture at the long-running show, she replied: ‘What I would say is that it’s not something that we take that seriously.’
‘What I know is that when we talk about culture it’s incredibly important to me, personally and so it deeply disappoints me, right?
‘But we do not recognise that in This Morning and the reason for that is that we have tangible evidence to tell you that the vast majority of people at daytime and at This Morning are engaged.
‘That’s not to say we don’t take complaints about it seriously. We’ve had two complaints in five years about that issue. Both of them taken very seriously.’
Other disclosures included the hosts’ nasty moniker for This Morning audience and longstanding pay inequalities.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
