Vanessa Feltz has disclosed that she co-hosted a show with the late Jerry Springer on incest.
The renowned host died on Thursday at the age of 79, prompting condolences from celebrities such as David Hasselhoff and Piers Morgan.
Vanessa, 61, was among those commemorating Springer, and she told out about co-hosting his namesake show with the broadcaster.
The episode’s title, however, raised some eyebrows in the ITV studio, with Vanessa admitting it was about terrible incest.
‘The show was called I had sex with my aunt,’ she said, as host Dermot O’Leary, 49, covered his face with his hands and sighed: ‘Oh my god.’
Alison Hammond, 48, was shaking as she questioned Vanessa, ‘Are you serious?’
Carol Vorderman, 62, couldn’t stop laughing when Vanessa verified the episode’s title was truly serious.
Vanessa revealed she spent a week in Chicago shooting the episode with Springer, adding: ‘I got to see how Jerry and the team put the show together.’
She continued: ‘And the way they put it together was that Jerry used to take big swings with a baseball bat that was owned by Babe Ruth and completely ignored the briefings.
‘So when he went out on the set when the show began, he honestly didn’t know whose mother was who, what the what was.’
‘Or the auntie,’ Carol jumped in joking.
Dermot added that what he ‘loved’ about Springer’s show was that he didn’t ‘talk down to people or belittle them’, commenting: ‘That’s why it worked, right?’
The broadcaster also recalled having dinner with Springer with Simon Cowell while working on The X Factor US, calling him as ‘fascinating and intrigued.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
