Gangs of London season 1 featured so much violence its body and torture count outdid Game of Thrones.
The first instalment followed Joe Wallace (Joe Cole) as he sought to avenge his father Finn’s (Colm Meaney) murder.
But as other rival gangs also sought to fill up the power vacuum, while Elliot Finch (Sope Dirisu) was secretly trying to bring the Wallace family to justice as an undercover cop, the criminal organisation collapsed.
It turned out Finn had fleeced a powerful group known as The Investors, who had ordered the hit, to leave his family and move to an exotic island with his pregnant lover.
Now the shady group have taken over London and installed a new ruling force in the capital in the form of brutal gang leader Koba (Waleed Zuaiter).
Koba’s vision for the criminal landscape is a dictatorship, a world in which old school gangster codes don’t exist and in which he holds a complete monopoly over the city’s drug trade.
But how long will this last? Here is everything you need to know about Koba.
Who is Gangs Of London season 2 villain Koba?
The Investors weren’t messing about when they put Koba in charge, who is hungry for power and not afraid to inflict violence to get what he wants.
But will other gangs – or a reunited Wallace family – ruin Koba’s dastardly reign over London’s criminal underbelly?
Speaking to Metro.co.uk about the character, Waleed said: ‘There was something that was also very humorous about Koba, or there was a sense of humor to him and the swagger that I really liked.
‘I don’t really get that many opportunities to play those types of roles – it’s either straight-on bad guy or an angelic good guy kind of thing.
‘Koba is inexcusable and unapologetic. He is powerful, charismatic and funny.’
Who plays Koba?
After performing on stage in productions in Washington and New York, Waleed began appearing on the small screen.
His credits include roles in House of Saddam, Homeland, The Good Wife, House of Cards and Baghdad Central.
Meanwhile, on the big screen he has featured in Sex and the City 2 and The Men Who Stare at Goats, alongside George Clooney and Jeff Bridges.
Waleed also produced and starred in Omar, which was nominated for an Oscar at the 86th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.
