Warning: spoilers ahead for The Apprentice.
Last night’s edition of The Apprentice saw not one, but two applicants exit the competition, yet Lord Alan Sugar only dismissed one individual when the chips were down in the boardroom.
The candidates were whisked away to the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai in week 6 of the 2023 BBC season to organise corporate away days for two multinational customers situated in the area.
Lord Sugar eventually decided it was time to say goodbye to safari guide Joe Phillips, soon after theatre school owner Reece Donnelly stepped out due to health issues.
Reece issued a statement before of the latest episode aired on BBC One, stating that he was unable to finish the job in Dubai due to health problems, and hence could not continue on The Apprentice.
‘I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time on the show and I’m looking forward to watching my fellow candidates in the rest of the series,’ he added.
‘My goal of being on The Apprentice was to showcase that Scotland has amazing businesses and entrepreneurs, I really hope I’ve done that. I’m so grateful for my time with Lord Sugar and the team.’
It was up to each of the teams throughout the mission in Dubai to try to generate as much money as possible with their lavish away days.

While one team chose to focus on the traditional aspect of Dubai, sending their clients to the desert on their doorstep, the other team chose to go in a different way, showcasing the city’s splendour.
When the candidates returned to the UK, Joe was part of the losing team, and Lord Sugar put him in the hot seat.
‘Joseph, you were accountable for the kitchen and ultimately it was one of the causes for the failure of this assignment,’ the business magnate stated, deciding that Joe was the most to blame for the task’s failure. Because the meal was burned and the service was bad, Joe, you are fired!’
‘I’m a biologist and I’ve been forced into the corporate world,’ the ousted competitor stated in the cab following his departure.
‘I’ve learnt so much from this process and I can’t wait to take that knowledge and apply it to my own business and hopefully make a success of it.’
The Apprentice returns next Thursday at 9pm on BBC one and BBC iPlayer.
