Whoopi Goldberg has announced her intention to introduce Loose Women to the United States and The View to the United Kingdom.
For the past 16 years, she has been one of the co-hosts of The View, a show founded by late broadcast superstar Barbara Walters, who died recently at the age of 93.
Loose Women on ITV has been running for a comparable amount of time, having debuted in 1999 with a similar premise of a female-led panel of presenters discussing the latest news and current affairs headlines.
Whoopi, 67, sat down for a pre-recorded talk with Judi Love, 42, on Friday’s episode of Loose Women, later revealing that she ‘came down in tears’ after their conversation because she holds The Color Purple actor in such high respect.
After giving Whoopi a mug with her name on it, the comedian told her guest: ‘You know we love you at Loose.’
‘I love you all too,’ the Hollywood star replied, as Judi responded: ‘I did hear that you love us.’

‘Loose Women was, I think, one of the first shows I did and I had such a good time. When I started doing The View, I thought you know, there’s a show over in London that does what we do,’ Whoopi recalled.
‘I heard that you wouldn’t mind doing a little swapsie,’ Judi chimed in, as Whoopi explained her idea further.
‘I thought it would be fun to bring The View over and do four days of shows and bring you all over to the US and do four days of shows – and then the pandemic hit! So I think that’s why it sort of fell apart,’ she said.

She appears determined to still make the swap a reality, but Judi pointed out one problem – that she wants to go wherever Whoopi’s going, as opposed to trading places.
‘We will sort it out,’ she added, as Whoopi promised: ‘We will.’
During their discussion, Whoopi also asked her former Sister Act co-star Dame Maggie Smith to return for the franchise’s third instalment.
‘You know, one of the things that I want to make sure I do while I’m here is… I want to let Maggie Smith know that I’m holding the part of Mother Superior for you. Because I just can’t do it with anybody but you,’ she said, as she addressed the camera directly.

‘So if you need me to come over here and shoot and do whatever we have to do, we will do whatever you want us to do, but we don’t want to do it without you.’
Whoopi added that she’s ‘liking the script’ for Sister Act 3, so now one of the top priorities is to ‘secure a director’.
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
