Wagner Carrilho has returned with a fresh appearance after appearing on The X Factor for the first time almost a decade ago.
The Brazilian singer, who was living in the West Midlands at the time, auditioned for the reality singing competition with a memorable version of “O solo mio” in 2010.
While he did not advance at first, he was granted a second chance and eventually entered the Over 28s group, coached by Louis Walsh.
He gained a lot of followers for merging iconic songs like She Bangs and Love Shack and advanced all the way to the quarter finals before being eliminated.
While we’ve had occasional updates from him throughout the years, he’s now back in Brazil and has made an unexpected career move, as he discussed on This Morning on Friday.
Wagner has always had long hair, but his current style includes a thick black beard and long blond locks.
When asked what prompted the change in look, he stated a visit to a hair transplant clinic motivated him to experiment.
Wagner has recently undergone two hair transplants, according to presenter Dermot O’Leary.
‘I became very good friends with a hair clinic owner, and he offered to open a clinic in the northeast of Brazil where I was born,’ the performer then continued.
‘He’s from Iceland and has 40 clinics around the world in places like Nigeria, America, Dubai also around Brazil in Rio and Sao Paulo and Brasilia.
‘He asked if I wanted to open one and I say “yes yes”.’
Wagner said he wanted a firm that would ‘work for me’ when he needed to find a new employment during the epidemic.
Wagner, according to Dermot, was the ideal ‘walking advertisement’ for his new business endeavour.
Wagner hailed his stint on The X Factor as the “largest party I have ever been to” during his appearance.
‘I loved every second of it and everyone was great,’ he said.
‘I was never worried about being sent home because I was living in the moment.’
When Dermot and co-host Alison Hammond also wished him a happy birthday, Wagner offered a somewhat amusing personal anecdote.
‘My birthday was really yesterday,’ he explained.
‘My father was born on February 24th, and he told the register office that I was too because he wanted us to share the same birthdate…
But my birthday is on the 23rd.’
Wagner hasn’t been seen much since starring on X Factor, but he made an unexpected admission in 2022 when he said he had been contacted to feature on Channel 4’s risqué dating programme Naked Attraction.
He did, however, state that he would ‘never go there’.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV1.
