You season four, part two, has finally arrived on Netflix, and there’s so much to take in!
Although he was striving to avoid his bad habits by adopting a new identity as professor Jonathan Moore, this season brought a fresh twist in that Joe (Penn Badgley) was the one being harassed.
In episode five, dubbed The Fox and the Hound, Joe finally met his stalker, Rhys Montrose, nicknamed the Eat The Rich murderer.
Yet, Joe’s attempt to bring him down sent us on a wild rollercoaster that we weren’t prepared for.
For those who have finished watching the final five episodes, here’s a quick review of what happened.
Prepare yourself.
You season 4 ending explained
In episode eight, we eventually realise that Rhys (Ed Spelers) was really a dark fabrication of Joe’s brain, his violent alter ego if you will.
Indeed, Joe was the Eat The Rich murderer, and he was responsible for the deaths of Malcolm, Simon, and Gemma in Part One.
With the revelation that Joe has been hallucinating the violent form of Rhys, the last episode begins with him plotting his own suicide to halt the deadly cycle.
Joe eventually ends himself at the hospital, where he is saved by the ambulance crew. Joe decided to tell Kate Galvin (Charlotte Ritchie), his love interest, about his murderous background.
As Kate proclaims her love for Joe, she assists in rehabilitating his image, and he promises that their relationship will ‘keep each other good.’
While Joe’s story had a happy conclusion, Nadia, his best pupil, did not (Amy-Leigh Hickman).
The student assisted Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle) in escaping from Joe’s box, but Nadia was determined to turn him in to the cops.
Joe stopped her as she was leaving his flat, seized her phone, deleted the evidence, and gave her money in exchange for quiet.
It is subsequently revealed that Nadia is currently in prison, since Joe murdered Nadia’s love interest Eddie after blaming Rhys’ murder on him and planting the evidence box in his room. Joe then blamed Nadia for Eddie’s death. Joe’s voiceover indicated that she is still incarcerated and refuses to testify in her own defence.
Joe and Kate begin their new life in New York City in the last minutes of episode 10, titled The Death of Jonathan Moore. All search results connected to Joe Goldberg and his life in Madre Linda have been removed with the assistance of a top cybersecurity team and publicists.
Attentive viewers will observe that Mr Goldberg has come full circle, since he began in New York during season one, but how will his journey unfold a second time in the Big Apple?
You is available to stream on Netflix.
