September is always a big month for beauty launches, and recently we’ve noticed a new kind of matte lipstick hitting the market.
Remember when liquid lipsticks were everywhere? While they were unmatched in staying power, they felt heavy and could appear ‘caked’ on the lips.
Finally, we’re seeing an evolution from that in the form of the classic bullet.
Taking the prolonged wear time and ‘dried down’ feel on this lips, these new products don’t come with any of the heaviness of a liquid lipstick – they actually feel feather-light and barely there.
Some are even completely transfer-proof, showing just how far the humble bullet has come.

Being completely transfer-proof, this lipstick is impressive.
Let it set down and watch as you dab away at it with a tissue; nothing comes off.
You don’t even need to apply much to get full pigment.
Influencers are loving it too, with plenty showing the magic on TikTok.
Revlon Matte Lite Crayon
For a budget option, this Revlon crayon is your best bet.
It glides on but quickly ‘stiffens’ and sets down on lips, to the point where you can hardly feel you’re wearing any lipstick. It begins to mimic skin texture.
The formula also stays put, and when we tested it, it gave off no transfer on a tissue.
The only drawback was the lighter shades settled into lip lines slightly, exaggerating them a little.
But the mid-deeper shades? No problem. We’ll be picking up a few.
