For the first time, the Eurovision Song Contest grand final will be televised live in theatres across the United Kingdom.
The large screen viewings will take place when the worldwide music competition comes to a dramatic climax in Liverpool on Saturday, May 13, which is sure to calm the spirits of those fans who couldn’t get their hands on tickets (or secure lodging soon enough).
‘We’re happy to be partnering with the BBC to deliver Eurovision’s grand final live into theatres throughout the UK for the first time ever,’ said John Travers of CinemaLive, the event’s cinema distributor.
‘We want audiences to enjoy themselves, come along in groups, get your fancy dress on, and come together to enjoy this historic occasion on the big screen.’
The screenings, according to organizers, will promote singalongs to this year’s Eurovision songs as well as fancy dress. (if you needed encouragement to begin with).
Audiences will also get a sneak peek at the new dating programme I Kissed A Boy before the big finale on May 13 at 8 p.m.
Kylie Minogue’s sister, Australian singer Dannii Minogue, hosts the show.
After finishing second behind Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra last year, Mae Muller has been picked as the UK’s entry this year.
Liverpool was chosen to host the tournament since Ukraine was unable to hold it due to the Russian invasion.
After being published at the beginning of March, in-person tickets for the grand final at the 11,000-capacity Liverpool Arena were sold out in less than 40 minutes.
Fans were also taken aback when suites for the semi-finals and grand final went on sale for an eye-watering £45,000 each.
However, there is still some availability in May for preview and live concerts.
Tickets for the cinema screenings, broadcast in more than 500 cinemas, will be available to buy on Monday March 27 at 10am from ukcinemaparty.com.
