Many eye makeup techniques don’t take hooded eyes into account.
Hooded eyes are eyelids that are mostly covered when a person opens their eyes, and their skin above the eyelid acts like a ‘hood’.
It can be frustrating to attempt viral makeup and find it smudges or doesn’t look as expected.
This technique however, is said to suit hooded eyes (even if the person demo-ing it doesn’t actually have them).
Instead of having eyeliner applied on the top lash line disappear, this look is all about the lower lash line – and it takes inspiration from editorial model looks.
Nicole Elliott, a beauty TikToker, called this technique ‘chic’ and perfect for hooded eyes.
A deep line is drawn across the bottom lash line, from one corner of the eye to the other.
Then to add a ‘feline’ flick for softness, the inner corner of the eye is outlined into a small point, while the outer corner has a straight flick.
Rather than go upwards with a flick, this is all about keeping it straight or even slightly downturned to ensure it doesn’t get hidden by any hooded eyelids.
Nicole used a pencil to first draw on the line, before smudging it out with a brush to make it appear less harsh and smokier.
Then using a liquid liner, she draw on the points at both corners of the eye – and the liquid pen allowed for a shaper, crisp line.
Nicole said the finished look gave her ‘a mean gaze’.
People commented the look was ‘stunning’ and many said they were keen to try it.
