After feeling unlucky in love, an Australian radio broadcaster has chosen to marry herself.
Erin Molan, a 2Day FM broadcaster in Sydney, took part in the unconventional ceremony with eight other single women as part of a piece for her show.
The Wedding For One was written as a tribute to those who are divorced, separated on their way to the altar (as she and ex-fiance Sean Ogilvy did in 2021), or are eternally alone.
While Erin needed persuasion to participate and marry herself, pressure from her daughter wore her down.
Erin was persuaded to participate by four-year-old Eliza, and the wedding took place earlier this week.
‘I thought “sweet Jesus if my life wasn’t sad enough, it’s about to get a whole lot worse”, but my little girl was so excited,’ she said.

‘It’s something fun for her, given the likelihood is as a 39-year-old single mother, I’ll probably never get married,’ she added when speaking to The Daily Telegraph.
While Erin didn’t want to marry ‘at all,’ she subsequently posted on social media that she was working on embracing self-love.
She stated that her radio crew believed there was no reason to postpone the celebration until ladies had “met the one.”
‘Just marry yourself she wrote.’

However, it was tough for her to go forward with it after learning that her father, who died last year, would never be able to escort her down the aisle.
‘I’ve never dreamt of a wedding, and it’s never really been that important to me… but the thought of even doing it for a radio segment, without him, made me feel sick… and I nearly pulled out so many time,’ she wrote on Instagram.
‘I didn’t want to be emotional and ruin it for all the beautiful and excited listeners who were doing the same thing and are so far ahead of me in realising that the greatest love of all has to be the love you have for yourself.’
While the marriage did not appear to be legally binding, Erin said she had a “great time” taking part.
Erin, on the other hand, intends to stay devoted to herself after admitting she couldn’t be ‘paid enough’ to date right now.
She stated that her priority was to be the greatest mother she could be, and that when she decides to resume dating, the next love she has will be “worthy.”
