Filler, contouring surgery, and botox are all celebrity must-haves, but Britney Spears is done with the injections.
Britney turned to social media to discuss the famous anti-aging therapy, just weeks after disclosing to followers that she thought she was pregnant.
The 41-year-old, who lives in Hawaii with her father, Kevin Federline, says Botox makes her seem like someone ‘beat me up’ while the swelling subsides.
Botox is an abbreviation for Botulinum toxin, which relaxes and paralyses the muscles in your face, smoothing away wrinkles.
Instead, she gushed about Sio, a new product that doesn’t require needles and costs $43 (£33) for a claimed 10 uses.
She wore the product in a video to her 42 million Instagram followers as the Toxic singer promised to stop using Botox.
‘I did Botox and I wasn’t really happy with it because it swelled up my forehead and therefore made the heaviness of my eyelids droop over and it literally looked like someone beat me up and to pay that much money to look like someone beat you up for the first two weeks… what’s the point?’ revealed Britney in an Instagram video.
Botox injections are commonly associated with pain and bruising around the injection site, drooping eyelids and brows, and headaches.
There is a danger of botulism in severe instances, which can cause nerve damage and respiratory failure as the toxin spreads throughout the body.
Britney explained that her newfound treatment was better because it’s ‘like putty and it sticks’ meaning there’s ‘no needles’ and a much lower cost.
She added: ‘Perhaps, by chance, them doing too much Botox and making your eyes droop over and literally look like someone beat the s**t out of you. To pay four thousand dollars? It makes no sense at all. Sio my friends. Sio.’
Britney went on to say that her favoured city for injections was New York, rather than the more popular Los Angeles.
She wrote in her Instagram caption: ‘OK… I have a big forehead and I seriously need bangs but I feel like I can’t see sometimes with bangs !!! I’m sharing this because it actually really does work.
‘Too many times, these so-called “best doctors” do amazing Botox. Never again in Los Angeles.
‘My first time, I just did lips in New York City. WAY different than LA… so subtle, it was an adorable pout !!!!’
Then, Britney shared how she felt about her own Botox, adding: ‘For probably 10 to 15 years, I haven’t had mine done right, and what’s with the times when one eyebrow is up and one is down?’
She revealed she ‘can’t even be seen’ for a fortnight after injections and her friend’s sisters would laugh at the outcome. for 2 weeks.
‘I cried and then I’m like, when is this gonna go away? “Oh, just give it a week or two”. Sometimes the nerves act that way and have a reverse effect, and I’m like, “I look like somebody beat the s*** out of me” !!!
‘So of course, I go back and show the doctor. She says that’s completely normal, and I said, “Then why can’t I go anywhere for two weeks?” and my friend’s sisters laughed.’
Brtiney concluded her message by saying: ‘F*** BOTOX, it is horrific !!! Sio is unbelievable (sic).’
