Carol Vorderman has demanded the resignation of Suella Braverman and blasted the home secretary’s response to a drowning in the English Channel this weekend.
Braverman tweeted that her ‘thoughts and prayers’ were with ‘those affected’ after a boat carrying asylum seekers capsized.
Countdown star Vorderman, 62, made it obvious that she disagreed with Braverman’s response, which supported contentious ideas to restrict small boats from crossing.
Braverman’s full tweet read: ‘My thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the tragic loss of life in the Channel today. This morning I spoke with our Border Force teams who have been supporting the French authorities in response to this incident.’
Vorderman wrote in response: ‘You are the very worst of the worst, utterly undeserving of the position you hold. You decry everything that has been good in this country during my lifetime, seeking to cause division at every turn. I am ashamed of you and the govt in which you self-serve.’
The TV star added on Instagram: ‘After her rhetoric and policies, boarding refugees onto Bibby Stockholm apparently before health and safety results which showed Legionella bacteria, and the tragic loss of life yesterday, Braverman should resign. In any other govt in my lifetime, that would have happened by now.’

Vorderman is no stranger to slamming the Conservatives, having previously branded out ‘disgusting’ Boris Johnson for egregious lockdown rule-breaking during the epidemic.
More recently, the This Morning host chastised Conservative cabinet minister Johnny Mercer and his wife Felicity Cornelius-Mercer for their large pay packets when they denied accusations that suffering British Army personnel were relying on food banks.
‘He said yday military personnel don’t need to go to foodbanks He earns over £110k as a Minister & pays her in his office £35-40k. She’s paid more than Army officer & TWICE more than young soldier. RT [sic],’ Vorderman tweeted.
