Charli XCX had fans groaning in pain after sharing a photo of herself in a hospital bed after having her wisdom teeth out.
The Boom Clap hitmaker disclosed her wisdom teeth removal on Thursday, posting a sleepy-looking snapshot from her hospital bed.
‘All my wisdom has gone,’ the popstar, 30, joked while dressed in a medical gown and connected up to machinery. From now on, only stupid and nonsensical decisions will be made.’
Many of Charli’s 4.2 million Instagram followers expressed their condolences, while others questioned why she had the treatment done in a hospital rather than a dentist.
One social media user wrote: ‘Hospital for wisdom teeth removal? Seems excessive.’
Another echoed, along with several others ‘Hospitalized to get wisdom teeth removed. Only in USA.’

While some of Charli’s followers were surprised to see that she’d had the procedure carried out in hospital, the NHS notes that it’s not uncommon for wisdom tooth removal to take place there.
What’s more, the process is a pretty series procedure which can involve gum incisions and often requires stitches – not to mention anaesthesia.
The NHS says: ‘If the tooth hasn’t come through the gum, a small cut (incision) will be made in the gum to access it. A small piece of the bone covering the tooth may also need to be removed.’
Wisdom tooth removal can also involve complications such as nerve injury and infection which may require repeat trips to a surgeon.
It comes after the Boys singer revealed her *very* cheeky 2023 resolutions, writing on Instagram alongside a photo of herself at dinner: ‘New Year’s resolutions: read more books, take less pills, have no fear, be even more c**t. Till 2023 angels.’
She also promised to release the best music of her career in the coming months, writing on Instagram four days ago: ‘Next album will be my best.’
Speaking to Metro.co.uk last year, Charli opened up about life in the spotlight, saying: ‘It’s always a bit weird but I will say I can go pretty incognito, depending on where I am. I think I’ve always been quite an opinionated person and I think sometimes people expect me to continue to be so, and sometimes I am and sometimes I’m not.’

She candidly added: ‘I think people also see me as a tough person in ways, because I am able to laugh at myself and I can poke fun at myself quite easily. But, you know, sometimes that’s not the case anymore.’
2022 was a kick-ass year for the singer, whose album Crash smashed straight into the Official Albums Chart at number one upon its release.
Her fifth studio album, Crash marked the end of her five-album deal with Atlantic.
Speaking in October, the chart-topper confessed she’s ‘not sure’ if she wants to go independent, telling NME: ‘There’s so many interesting options that would work for me.
‘I like not having to foot the bill for everything at the beginning, that’s quite scary. Especially when you want to do things on the kind of scale that I did on the last record. I’m still exploring, definitely.’
Whatever Charli’s next move is, we have a feeling it’s going to be killer.
