Coleen Rooney has spoken up about her sad loss at 10 weeks pregnant.
The television personality and wife of footballer Wayne Rooney has four sons: Kai, 13, Klay, 10, Kit, 7, and Cass, 5.
While Coleen, 37, and Wayne, 37, routinely publish images of their children online and keep their followers up to speed on all of their family’s antics, there is something that the public is unaware of.
My Account, her new autobiography released following her Disney+ documentary Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, discusses losing a pregnancy and the grief that ensued.
Coleen told the Daily Mail’s You Magazine that it was ‘a dreadful event that knocked Wayne for six, too.’
Coleen went on to say that her husband has suffered from depression on and off since, which they feel is due to the enormous strain he’s been under since joining Everton as a youngster.
‘Still, to this day he has it – everyone on him,’ she said. ‘Not to see what he’s doing right but to see what he’s doing wrong. It’s a shame.’
Coleen has supported her husband through their relationship’s ups and downs, but she believes she has handled the limelight better than he has.
‘Whatever scrutiny I was under, [Wayne] had it tenfold.’
She says in her book that Wayne is ‘not a big talker’ so sometimes ‘it can get to a point where it’s a bit much’.
‘He’ll drink to blot it all out and escape from the world. What happens, of course, is the opposite.’
There’s no disputing that the Rooneys have had their share of ups and downs, especially in light of the footballer’s infidelity issues.
Despite the criticism, their marriage has withstood the test of time, and Coleen continues to extol her other half.
‘Wayne’s a great dad,’ she pens in her memoir.
‘Every time he’s gone off the rails, it’s been a stupid, drunken, spur-of-the-moment thing.’
Coleen also sends her ‘message’ to those who may be going through a difficult moment.
‘My message is if there’s something to work at, if the love’s still there, why would you throw that away?
‘Mistakes have happened, but I’ve always known Wayne’s loved me.’
When it comes to her husband Wayne’s controversies, Coleen was’sickened and grieved’ by one in particular.
Wayne was caught for drunk driving in 2017 while driving with another woman in the passenger seat.
The Manchester United great was apprehended by police after being discovered driving a VW Beetle owned by lettings agent Laura Simpson, who met Wayne on a night out when his wife Coleen, who was pregnant with their fourth child, was on vacation.
Coleen stated in her latest documentary that Wayne is a ‘completely different person’ when intoxicated and that he is’stupid’ to put himself in a compromising position.
‘It was just sickening. I’ve had that feeling in my stomach a few times and I would never wish anyone to feel that,’ she said of hearing the news.
Coleen and Wayne have been travelling back and forth between the UK and the US for the past year, ever since Wayne secured a rumoured £1 million-a-year contract to become the manager of DC United.
Their children are growing up quickly.
Eldest Kai is a forward for Manchester United’s development system, following in his renowned father’s footsteps.
After passing down many other teams, the adolescent signed his first-ever deal with the squad in December 2020.
