After replying to a comment that was cruel following the passing of his father, Kevin Bridges decided not to allow a troll get the best of him.
The news that his father, Andy Bridges, had passed away on Thursday at the age of 75 was verified by the comedian throughout the course of the weekend.
Although the specific reason of death was not disclosed, Kevin, who is now 36 years old, had discussed his father’s health struggles in the past.
Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September, one Twitter user looked for a chance to remind the comedian of how he had joked about the late monarch at comedy events in the months after her passing.
‘Will he joke about this like he did when our queen died,’ they asked the stand-up star.
Kevin then shot back: ‘Of course I will joke about it… do you know where I can get a good suit for the funeral mate??’
Fans rushed to support the comedian, with one commenting: ‘Thoughts, prayers, and love with you!! Not easy I’m sure, but aye in time anything can be a joke Big hugs to you and yours in the meantime.’
Hoping to raise Kevin’s spirits, another joked: ‘Slaters will do you a decent number for a quality price @kevinbridges86 If we don’t laugh,we greet m8!’
One other fan told him: ‘Good answer Kev that should keep her quiet for 10 minutes!!! I worked with your uncle in a residential children’s home and he spoke highly of your father. So sorry for your loss buddy I’ll keep your family and your friends in my prayers mate God bless you all.’
Kevin later shared a heartwarming video of his dad doing a funny dance during dinner at a restaurant.
A spokesperson confirmed that Andy died on January 5.
It is believed that Kevin was present when his cherished father passed away, along with other members of Kevin’s family such as his mother Patricia and other relatives.
‘Patricia, who was his wife for 47 years, was by his side along with his sons John and Kevin as well as Kevin’s wife and his grandson Liam,’ a family friend said.
They continued to The Sun: ‘Andy was Kevin’s mentor and took him to his first-ever gig when he was a teenager. He was still bouncing new material off him in recent weeks.
‘Andy was absolutely hilarious and that’s where Kevin got his comedy skills from.’
Andy is believed to have battled ‘poor health’ in recent months, and Kevin previously revealed how proud he was of his father for overcoming depression.
