The panellists on Loose Women have stated that they would not be picking up Prince Harry’s autobiography on Tuesday, when it is scheduled to be released in the UK.
In order to promote his new book, Prince Harry, 38, granted an interview to Tom Bradby, a broadcaster for ITV News, that lasted for the whole 90 minutes on Sunday night.
However, the panellists on Monday’s episode of the popular daytime show on ITV are not impressed by some of the Duke of Sussex’s confessions. Ruth Langsford, 62, Linda Robson, 64, Janet Street-Porter, 76, and Jane Moore, 60, make up the panel.
Speaking on the show, Jane said: ‘What you didn’t need to do, those sort of intimate moments where he said he and William have a little thing where it’s like, they swear on mummy’s life if they really want the other to believe something.’
Ruth interrupted, ‘It’s very private,’ as Jane continued: ‘All those sorts of things, the conversations at his grandfather’s funeral, that’s just lifting the curtain a little too far for me.’
Janet agreed, telling viewers: ‘I didn’t like the fact that he told us that the King calls him “my darling boy”, I think that level of revelation I was really uncomfortable with.
‘I didn’t like to know so much detail about what he said to the Queen on her deathbed, I just think step back from this. What’s this achieving?’
Jane continued: ‘It’s contradictory. On one hand it’s like, “My father isn’t affectionate with me” and then it’s like, “He calls me darling boy”.’
When Ruth suggested they will have ‘many more days’ of speaking about revelations from the memoir, Jane said: ‘No, I’ve reached peak Harry.’
Linda chimed: ‘Me too, I’ve had enough now,’ with Janet adding: ‘I definitely have.’
Ruth then asked if they will read the book, with Birds of a Feather star Linda saying: ‘No, I won’t. I’ve had enough, there’s enough out, I’m bored of it all now.’
The sentiment was shared by Janet, who said, “I don’t want to read the book” while shaking her head in agreement with Linda.
After that, Ruth polled the studio audience to see whether any of them planned to visit their community bookstore on Tuesday, and Linda reported that “five people” had raised their hands in response.
‘Oh gosh, not very many,’ Ruth said.
