Dick Van Dyke is back to bring us some sunshine as he demonstrated his ukulele talents following his first session at the age of 97.
The iconic Mary Poppins performer showcased the new talent he hopes to learn in a brief video clip, proving that it’s never too late to start a new interest.
The video, which was shared on Instagram, shows Dick sitting on a chair during a group session, clad in a white shirt with bright red stripes on the collar lining and comfy grey tracksuit pants.
The famed musician was focusing as he gazed down at his ukulele, picking out notes as he strummed.
He then paused to look up and ask, ‘Where’s the F, quick?’
As he continued to work around the issue, his companion playing along with him then offered: ‘I’ll stay on the C, you go G7? I can’t get G7.’
‘I can’t either!’ quipped Dick, who was involved in a car crash earlier this year, leading to laughter.
‘My first ukulele lesson with @getstartedplayingukulele,’ the star wrote in the caption, adding: ‘@bijoubox’s [his wife, Arlene Silver] third.
‘It’s never too late to start something new,’ he encouraged.

He also tagged CURE social wellness club in his post, where he was taking the lesson, with the organisation resharing his video and commenting: ‘In the club… Music therapy with Malibu’s finest @official_dick_van_dyke.’
The video wowed his fans and followers, who flooded the Diagnosis Murder actor’s comments with adulation – and yes, the term “legend” was used.
‘You sir are such a legend. So inspiring,’ wrote one follower, while another added: ‘This post made my day! You are an inspiration and class act! Hugs to you!’
‘At almost 53, I feel like I’m too old to take piano lessons. Seeing you try this, encourages me❤️ You continue to bring joy into my life. Thank you,’ shared someone else.
Dick, who made his soap debut aged 97 by appearing as a guest on the long-running US serial Days Of Our Lives in the spring, also shared some fan comments to his timeline.
‘One word: Legend,’ read one, while a second fan said: ‘@official_dick_van_dyke being a legend as usual.’
Another admitted: ‘My favourite video possibly ever. @official_dick_van_dyke an inspiration for making the most out of life.’

The film legend, who has previously acted in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, BNye Bye Bridie, and The Comic – as well as the Emmy award-winning Dick Van Dyke Show with co-star Mary Tyler Moore, made further TV history earlier this year.
In February of this year, he became the oldest ever participant on The Masked Singer US, also at 97, when he was unmasked as Gnome during the show’s ninth season.
