Ellie Goulding has expressed her solidarity and support to anyone feeling’sad’ in an honest statement following her split from husband Caspar Jopling.
The Burn singer turned to Instagram on Sunday to express her thoughts, weeks after announcing her separation from the art dealer she married in 2019.
‘Solidarity to anyone else feeling sad as hell today,’ the 37-year-old wrote in a post on her Instagram Stories. ‘Tomorrow will be better.’
Ellie also reshared a post on her Stories which read: ‘Have a meltdown. As a treat.’
The Starry Eyed singer announced her breakup with Caspar, 32, on social media at the end of February.
Ellie told fans she had been left with ‘no choice’ but to publicly announce that they had been separated for ‘some time.’
‘In light of recent stories, I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I privately separated some time ago,’ she wrote at the time.
‘We remain the closest of friends and have been successfully co-parenting with our son’s best interests at heart.’
The former couple has a son, Arthur, whom they welcomed in April 2021.
Caspar also shared his own statement on Instagram Stories, writing: ‘I feel (sadly) that I need to say something on mine and Ellie’s relationship that I hope more than anything will make any final tabloid speculation disappear.
‘Ellie and I made the decision to separate some time ago. Our immediate family and close friends have known for some time – otherwise, we chose to do what we could to keep this private.
‘Ellie and I remain the closest of friends and, most importantly, “co-parents” to the best kiddo in the world, Arthur.
‘This is the last I want to say on this – and please ask that you respect mine and Ellie’s privacy.’
After announcing their divorce, the Love Me Like You Do singer has disclosed a new relationship with surf instructor Armando Perez.
Before her romance with Caspar, Ellie dated Radio 1 DJ Greg James and McFly’s Dougie Poynter.
She and Caspar announced their engagement in August 2018, and they married the next year in York Minster.
In April 2021, the musician gave birth to their first child. Two years later, when guest editing the Today programme, she revealed that she had suffered from post-natal depression.
Ellie and Caspar’s marriage has been making headlines for the last several months, with reports appearing in June that they were’spending time apart’.
An alleged friend of the now former couple claimed they’d experienced ‘ups and downs,’ but wished to stay together for their family.
‘In the end, they’ve tried to find a compromise where they continue to share lots of time together for their son Arthur, but outside of that live separate lives for now,’ they explained.
In September, Ellie and Caspar’reunited’, with an insider stating the Burn hitmaker wanted to ‘give things another go’.
After’six months of problems’, Ellie and Caspar ended their relationship, and she is currently in a new one.
