Laura Anderson said that she covertly reconnected with her ex-boyfriend Gary Lucy before they had their first child.
In an endearing social media post last month, the former Love Island star, 34, said she and Hollyoaks actor Gary, 41, had become parents to a little girl named Bonnie.
The couple parted early in Laura’s pregnancy, with suspicions of a reconciliation circulating right before she gave birth, when the duo was photographed together in Scotland.
Laura, who is settling into life as a new mother, has revealed that she and Gary did get back together before Bonnie came, but the relationship did not work out again.
‘Well, we did try before the birth, but it’s just not really worked out so far,’ she told OK! Magazine.
‘When we first got together and decided to have a baby – because Bonnie was planned – it was what I wanted. But it’s quite common for parents not to be together for whatever reason.
‘And I’ve found a community, connecting with a lot of women on Instagram who’ve reached out to me and said that seeing me manage on my own has made them feel that they can do it too.’
Despite their divorce, Laura said that the pair remains polite for the sake of their kid.
‘No one knows what the future holds, but it’s really important that Bonnie has a mother and a father who love her and who are getting along. She needs both of us in her life, so that is always going to be my priority,’ she continued.
‘I would say me and Gary are friends. We’re co-parenting as best we can right now and I think it’ll fall into place and make sense as she gets older. With both of our jobs, there can’t be too much routine at the moment anyway.’
Gary, who already had four children with his ex-wife Natasha Grey, claimed the pair was no longer together shortly after their pregnancy announcement, with Laura deleting him from their baby post.
Laura went on to say that the couple were ‘not on good terms’ after their divorce, with a source saying she was’so unhappy’ with Gary for revealing they were having a baby girl ‘without her consent.’
In a heartfelt post for OK!, the celebrity admitted she’s ‘grieving’ for the life she imagined she’d have, raising her child with a partner.
She admitted to putting ‘a lot of things’ off, such as a baby shower.
‘It’s a grievance what I thought my life was going to be like, at this point, and how I thought my first pregnancy was going to be – settled down with my partner and raising a baby together.’
