Last year, Liam Payne spent about 100 days in treatment after reaching rock bottom following his appearance on Logan Paul’s show.
The former One Direction singer confessed that he didn’t recognise himself after lashing out at those around him and struggling to adjust to life after the band.
The 29-year-old actress visited a wellness facility in the United States that specialises in helping individuals deal with previous trauma.
‘I was really happy, when I arrived, to put a stopper on life and work. I didn’t have my phone for nearly a hundred days, I didn’t connect with the outside world at all,’ he said in a candid video shared on his YouTube channel.
‘Upon leaving, actually, the hardest point was turning the phone back on, it was a little bit scary. But it was a nice world to come back out to.’
Liam, who has been clean for six months found consolation in painting and poetry, and hailed his ex Cheryl and his six-year-old son Bear for enabling him have the chance to ‘go and get well’.

He added: ‘There is a point when you hit rock bottom and you realise you have got to do something different as whatever you are doing right now isn’t working for you. I was in bad shape up until that point.
‘Honestly, more than anything I want to say thank you to Bear and his mum for giving me a little bit of freedom to go and get well. There is no point trying to be a dad when you have nothing to teach.
‘I feel like I have a grip on life now. After I got back out, that process had worked for me, but there were still some little bits left that I kind of had to deal with myself.’

After an interview with YouTuber and WWE wrestler Logan Paul in which he threatened Justin Bieber to a fight and slammed former bandmate Zayn Malik, Liam understood he “needed to take some time apart.”
‘I kind of became someone who I didn’t really recognise any more. I was so angry at what was going on around me that instead of taking a look inwards I decided to take it outwards on everybody else,’ he explained.
‘It was wrong really, and my own frustrations with my own career. I want to apologise for that.
‘The rest of the boys have really stuck by me and when I needed them most they kind of came to my rescue, even Zayn.
‘It was hard for me to watch back. It is one of those life-changing moments that saved my life in a way.’
