Lizzie Cundy has revealed an attempted break-in she experienced last night.
The 55-year-old broadcaster was in the bathtub when she heard a ‘big explosion’ and ‘noise’ from downstairs.
Fortunately, a farmer had previously called the police when he observed someone ‘lurking about suspiciously’ near the Talk Radio host’s house.
Police arrived ‘in minutes’, and the two guys fled, but in their haste, they crashed and wrecked their car.
Unfortunately, despite Hampshire Police’s ‘extraordinary’ efforts, the crooks fled into the night before being apprehended.
Lizzie thanked the police for their swift reaction and urged anybody with information about the event to contact authorities.
Taking to Instagram, the Our Shirley Valentine Summer star posted a photo of the crashed car, and said in full: ‘So this happened last night.
‘After a lovely dinner with a friend, I was taking a bath and heard a huge bang and noise downstairs. Someone sounded like they were trying to get in my house.
‘Luckily a passing farmer saw someone lurking around and thought it was suspicious and called the police immediately.
‘Thankfully the police came around in minutes to my home but the 2 men drove off into my fence with such speed they overturned their car as you can see from the photo above.
‘They then ran off into the night and the police couldn’t catch them. I just want to say a huge thank you to Hampshire police who came over so quickly and stayed with me. The police were amazing.
‘This is happening way to often especially in rural areas. We all need to look after each other. Thankfully someone did for me.
‘If anyone knows anything please contact Hampshire police. I’m felling very blessed today I wasn’t hurt or anyone else. Keep safe 🙏🏻.’
Lizzie formerly married Jason Cundy, a former Chelsea and Tottenham footballer, for 16 years before their breakup in 2010.

Lizzie, a skilled actor, has acted in two James Bond films opposite Pierce Brosnan, as well as TV dramas like Eastenders.
Lizzie’s dog Alfie was taken from her in Belgravia in August of last year, leaving her ‘in bits’.
She got a new dog for Christmas (as pictured above) but at the time expressed her deep sorrow at the events, as she said: ‘Dogs are part of the family. I do so much for dogs charities and it’s heartbreaking for him to be stolen and snatched away like this.
‘We’re all in bits and can’t sleep since Alfie has been taken.’
Lizzie continued to The Sun: ‘There is a £5,000 reward and Lady Gaga sends her love and prayers for Alfie’s return and we hope we will get Alfie back.’
