Kaye Adams, 60, has shown her first tattoo, a homage to her late mother that she had inscribed on her forearm despite the fact that she believes her mum would despise it.
The host of Loose Women posted a video of her procedure to Instagram on Sunday, in which she expressed relief at having finally gone through with it despite some preoperative anxiety.
The tattoo reads ‘Over twenty-one’ in a cursive script down the inside of her left forearm, referencing a saying of her late mother who was always sensitive about revealing her age.
With her palms sweating, Kaye exclaimed, “I’ve arrived” as she sat in the car before her appointment. Okay, I’m going to go in there…
She demonstrated how she got ready for the tattoo by shaving her arm and positioning the stencil.
After the tattoo started, the camera showed Kaye grimacing and laughing, saying, “It’s fine.” Okay, that’s good to hear.

The broadcaster proudly showed off her completed tattoo to cameraat the end with an ‘I like it!’ before offering a close-up shot of her arm with its fresh ink to camera.
‘I only went and did it!’ she proudly wrote in the caption.
‘I teased I was going on the How To Be 60 podcast and I know most of you thought I wouldn’t do it (to be fair so did I last night!) but I’m so glad I did.
‘My mum will be up there rolling her eyes at but I think deep down she’d be a little bit proud too!’
The Strictly Come Dancing star added: ‘I’ll be talking more about the whole experience in an upcoming podcast but for now I just wanted to say a massive thank you to @waywardwomantattoos at @blackdottattoo for being so kind and gentle with me. Honestly it felt more like going to a beauty therapist than a tattoo studio!’

‘Yes KAYE!!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏’ wrote presenter Sophie Morgan in the comments, while the Loose Women account commented: ‘Yay!! It looks so good too 🙌❤️’
‘OK inspired! Totally going to do the same,’ added another of Kaye’s pals, while one follower echoed: ‘I’m thinking of doing this for my 60th too…you’ve inspired me!! X’
‘I’m definitely getting a tattoo, it’s going to be “Over 21”. I’ve done a bit of research of tattoo artists in Glasgow,’ Kaye shared in early January on her podcast, according to The Sun.
‘I’m just trying to work out where I put it, whether I put it on the inside of my wrist, or maybe down the side of my arm; I don’t know where to have it, or which font,’ she added.

Kaye remembered the scenario that motivated the tattoo and explained that she thinks her mother is to blame for her fear of ageing, or “age denial.”
She told The Mirror last year: ‘She got stopped by police for speeding once. My brother and I were quite little and in the back of the car and we all got taken to the police station because she wouldn’t tell the police officer her date of birth.

‘All she would say was that she was over 21. My dad had to come and get us out by quietly revealing her age to the desk sergeant.’
Previously, the presenter had acknowledged that the last birthday she celebrated prior to this one was her 30th, and that she had successfully knocked a decade off her genuine age and maintained the pretence for more than 10 years.
Kaye celebrated her birthday in December by talking about her lies on a Loose Women birthday episode and posting a photo of herself wearing a birthday ribbon and holding a Loose Women cake on Instagram.
‘Thank you to everyone at @loosewomen for making my birthday episode such a lovely one! If I knew 60 felt this good I wouldn’t have moaned about it so much!’ she wrote in the caption.
