Melissa McCarthy gave fans a sneak glimpse at her in costume as Ursula ahead of the debut of the live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
On Wednesday, the 52-year-old American actress shared a poster for the highly anticipated Disney picture with her Instagram followers, showing her costumed as the story’s villain.
Melissa arrived with theatrical makeup that bowed to the character’s distinctive blue eyeshadow and had her hair pulled back into the witch’s white updo, bearing a frightening resemblance to the cartoon version of the sea monster Ursula.
The costume’s tentacles can be seen at the border of the shot, and two eels frame her shoulders as she poses in the centre of the snap, against a blue background emulating the sea.
Along with the movie poster, Melissa wrote, ‘One month till I get to share my fever dream with everyone!!’ Missy McCarthy-inspired brows around 1988!!! #TheLittleMermaid arrives in theatres on May 26! [sic].’
Fans complimented the Bridesmaids actress for her role in the film and offered remarks of admiration for the A-lister.

‘I see the devine eyeshadow influence [sic],’ a social media user made reference to the cartoon’s makeup look.
Melissa chatted about her latest starring role when she appeared at CinemaCon and said: ‘It was truly such an honour to play one of Disney’s most delicious and iconic villains.
‘Ursula is dishy, she’s a conniving broad. Maybe that’s why I relate, I don’t know. But you can’t help but love her at the same time.’
The cast also stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, Javier Bardem, Awkwafina, and Jonah Hauer-King.
Halle explained to E! News ahead of taking on the iconic character: ‘I definitely think that because I love this movie so much, and I’ve treasured it since I was a little girl, I did put a bit of pressure on myself.
‘Just because I want to deliver all of the feels that I saw when I was a little girl.’
The remake of the 1989 animated classic is due to hit cinemas on May 26.
