Paddy McGuinness and Christine McGuinness have been separated for over two years, but they are still not ready to divorce formally.
In 2022, Paddy (50) and Christine (35) announced their separation after 11 years of marriage and three children.
Despite their breakup, the TV stars continue to live together, and their children are likely oblivious of their relationship.
When asked about their present relationship, former Top Gear host Paddy reaffirmed his ‘love’ for his separated wife.
Paddy also acknowledged to’struggling’ with the breakup at first, but clarified that he had not sought treatment.
Speaking to The Sun, the former Take Me Out presenter said: ‘I am very protective of Christine and our children.
‘The fact that we can still live together, we never argue and there’s no toxicity in the house, says it all, really.
‘We have separate bedrooms because we respect that we aren’t together anymore but, whether we work it through or we don’t, what we do have is a really, really lovely family unit at home.’
Paddy, who began seeing Christine in 2009 and married her two years later, admitted to ‘forgetting’ the couple were apart at times.
He also acknowledged that their arrangement ‘must be strange for people looking at it from the outside in.’
‘We still hug, and we’re still messaging and phoning each other every day, we’re just not jumping into bed together anymore.’
When asked how he’s doing with his split from Christine, the comic said that they only fight when ‘lawyers are involved’.
Paddy noted that ‘there doesn’t need to be toxicity’ in a divorce, assuring that ‘there is more laughter and love in our house than arguments.’
‘The reality, though is that I don’t think either of us are in a rush to get a divorce.’
His interview comes after the gloves reportedly came off in legal proceedings.
It was believed that Christine had ‘had enough’, with Paddy expecting proceedings to become ‘expensive’.
A friend of Christine’s told MailOnline: ‘The gloves are off, she was good to Paddy, she stayed at home and brought up his children while he was out earning money.
‘It’s going to be an expensive divorce for Paddy.
‘Christine has had enough.’
Christine apparently engaged a hotshot lawyer to fight her case.
Catherine Bedford, popularly known as the ‘pitbull’, previously aided make-up artist Lisa Armstrong, who allegedly received £31 million during her divorce from broadcaster Ant McPartlin.
She is presently representing actress Sophie Turner in her public divorce from musician Joe Jonas.
A source told The Sun that Christine was keen to ‘work with a woman’ and she saw Catherine as ‘one of the best in the business’.
