Reese Witherspoon has turned to TikTok to defend herself against fans who criticised her for *checks notes* eating snow from a vehicle.
The 47-year-old Pleasantville singer sparked outrage on social media after sharing a video of herself creating ‘chococinnos’, which required gathering snow from a vehicle, adding cold brew coffee, and dousing it with salted caramel and chocolate sauce.
‘It’s so amazing,’ the actress exclaimed in the video, but other fans were not convinced, pleading with Reese not to eat ‘dirty’ snow and expressing concern for her health.
The Legally Blonde actor has since addressed the concerns on TikTok, saying ‘There’s so many people on here saying snow is dirty so we went and took snow from the backyard and we microwaved it and it’s clear.’
‘Is this bad? Am I not supposed to eat snow?’ she asked, holding up a cup of melted show for the camera.
She also addressed a comment which said snow was ‘dirty but you only live once’, commenting: ‘OK so we’re kind of in a category of “You only live once” and it snows maybe once a year here. I don’t know! Also, I want to say something. It was delicious! It was so good!’
Reese slammed the idea of getting sick from eating fallen snow, saying that she ‘didn’t grow up on filtered water.’
‘We drank out of the tap water. We actually put our mouths on the tap and then sometimes like in the summer, when it was hot, we drank out of the hose, like, we put our mouth on the hose, growing up,’ she added.
‘Maybe that’s why I’m like this,’ she joked. ‘So what you’re saying to me is I have to filter the snow before I eat it? I just can’t. Filtered snow. I don’t know how to do that.’
Dr. Zachary Rubin, MD, agreed with Witherspoon in the comments section, stating that eating snow ‘is not a big deal.’
Many defended her, arguing snow cuisine should only exclude yellow snow.
Speaking about munching the white stuff, TikTok user Bernadette Kerivan wrote: ‘GenX here 🙋♀️we sure did and we survived 🤣🤣.’
Sherry Kessinger added: ‘Snow ice cream is the best! Thankfully I grew up when things were normal.’
ILfarmchick wrote: ‘When they find out we eat icicles right off the barn roof 🤷♀️,’ which could make a great dunking snack for a choccocino.
Tamar Lalenya pointed out: ‘Snow is literally just ice crystals and air. It’s made of water. As far as the air being dirty we’re already breathing it.’
