Vick Hope responded to an Instagram troll who chastised her for uploading a holiday photo in January.
The BBC Radio 1 DJ, who married Calvin Harris last year, posted a gorgeous photo of herself on a beach with a cocktail among the palm trees.
One commenter criticised the celebrity for ‘flaunting her affluent lifestyle’ on social media.
‘We know u and Calvin [Harris] have worked hard, but it’s almost February, the weather is c**p and we’d all love to get away for a bit of sunshine. So thanks for flaunting ur glamorous life when 95% of the country are struggling to pay some bills right now,’ Instagram user @ste.porter1978 wrote.
Hope was quick to respond, pointing out that the picture was actually taken months previously and she, like many Britons, is ‘freezing her t**s off’ as temperatures plummet.
‘@ste.porter1978 I’m not on holiday ste, I was at work today, have been all week, well aware that it’s bloody cold I’m freezing my t*** off right now. It’s a throwback picture from a past holiday, ste, not that deep,’ she responded.
This wasn’t the end of the matter, however, as another user decided to weigh in on the argument, writing: ‘It’s nearly February, it’s freezing and no one has any money but thanks.’
Hope jokingly commented: ”@heelspatgfk ok next time will post a pic of my grim commute home tonight from work in the storm to brighten up the timeline.’
Despite criticism, many people supported Hope and advised others to ‘unfollow’ her if they disagreed with her statements.
Mrsfrancis88 wrote: ‘It’s wild that people think celebrities should be held accountable for people not being on holiday, not warm and not their lifestyle.
‘Celebrities are not responsible for the state of the country, the weather or the lack of money people have. Why follow them if their content makes you, jealous, sad or angry. Unfollow them and stop trying to make people feel bad because they can do things you can’t. It is not theirs to carry.’
Andreabradshaw2160 added: ‘Gotta love a little jealousy haha keep posting them I’m sure you will anyway. Beautiful.’
Jojoraletoana commented: ‘Imagine being angry at a picture 😂😂 people are pathetic.. You look lovely Vick.’
Vick has stated that she would not allow social media haters control her life.
In a statement last year, the actress clarified her avoidance of specific sites amid marriage rumours.
‘I used to spend a lot of time, whenever anything erroneous was written about me in the press, I’d be like right, I’m gonna use the radio show to actually tell the truth – it didn’t work! It all got taken out of context anyway!’, she began.
‘What I’ve learned is to just not care.
‘In the past, I’ve always tried to correct things, or be as clear as possible on air or in interviews, or on socials.
‘Honestly, it’s got to a point now where I just don’t read it! I just avoid it.’
Hope and One Kiss singer Harris, 40, had a lovely honeymoon after their September festival-themed wedding.
They hosted a Glastonbury-themed wedding at Hulne Priory in Alnwick, Northumberland, with many celebrities.
The MailOnline said that Big Brother host AJ Odudu, BBC radio DJs Vernon Kay and Scott Mills, and Vick’s Radio 1 co-host Jordan North were among the celebrities.
