Congratulations to Rhian Sugden and Oliver Mellor, who have revealed they are expecting their first child.
After marrying Coronation Street actor Oliver Mellor, 42, in 2018, the former Celebrity Big Brother star revealed she is 16 weeks pregnant.
Their pregnancy quest has taken six years, but the baby is expected on May 4, 2024, due to Rhian’s low egg count and perimenopausal symptoms.
It took eight rounds of IVF for the 37-year-old to conceive, and she almost gave up trying to have a child.
Rhian looked stunning in a silky yellow gown, cradling her pregnancy, as she announced the news on her Instagram story via Hello! Magazine.
The mum-to-be said: ‘We’re over the moon, our lives are going to change so much, which is very exciting.’
Her Corrie husband added: ‘I can’t wait for the baby to be born, I’ll pump my fist to the sky and shout, “‘I’m a dad!”
The couple had just a 3% chance of conceiving naturally, and after spending £130,000, they were on the point of quitting up.
Even in the last round, they were advised that the two eggs were not of “high quality,” and that they might not result in a healthy pregnancy – yet nine days later, they got the fantastic news.
Rhian has been taking pregnancy tests on a regular basis, unable to believe their good fortune, adding that she assumed she’d ‘never have children’.
Among her worries about parenting, the former Page 3 model admitted she was terrified Oliver would leave her to have a child with someone else.
Her spouse sought to ease her anxieties that she would ‘die alone’ following this.
Before commencing her relationship with Oliver, Rhian was entangled in a texting incident with Vernon Kay, for which he had to publicly apologise to Tess Daly.
In 2018, the model also apologised to Tess, stating she greatly regretted allowing the friendship to continue in this manner.
They were discovered to have been involved in a spate of amorous conversations in 2010 – the I’m A Celeb star had been married to the Strictly host for seven years at the time.
A decade later, the issue resurfaced when the model appeared in Page Three: The Naked Truth, a Channel 4 documentary.
Rhian broke down in the documentary, and said at the time: ‘I don’t care if he sees me crying. I’m sure he’s as sick of hearing my name as I’m sick of hearing his.’
