Following the announcement of her marriage to Taika Waititi and the launch of her new single, Rita Ora has admitted that the past twenty-four hours have been particularly hectic for her.
After relocating to Australia in 2021 for a job as a coach on the local version of The Voice, a panellist from The Masked Singer established a romantic relationship with the director of JoJo Rabbit.
After the singer, who is 33 years old, was discovered wearing an item that seemed to be a wedding ring, speculation began to circulate that the couple had secretly tied the knot.
Shortly after that, the Hot Right Now hitmaker and the director of Thor, 47, co-hosted the MTV Awards together, and Taika gave further insight into his connection with Rita during her interview with Louis Theroux. Taika also co-hosted the MTV Awards with the Hot Right Now hitmaker.
However, neither side has formally acknowledged that the wedding would take place up until today, when Rita told Heart Breakfast that she was “officially off the market.”
The vocalist from Poison made an appearance on Friday’s episode of The One Show to promote her new single, “You Only Love Me.” During her time on the show, hosts Alex Jones and Ronan Keating congratulated the singer on her recent marriage.
Alex told Rita that she ‘loved the new single’, with the performer replying: ‘Yay. Big day. Lots happened today.’
She continued: ‘Yeah, I’m actually exhausted. I’m like, “Woah, what a day!” But I’m happy.
‘I’m just in a really good place right now, feeling really happy and good and. I think that this song is really cool and I love it.’
Earlier in the interview with Heart, Rita had stated, “I am officially off the market folks.” I choose to keep it more secret and to keep it to myself, but with my newest video, I am playing on what may have been and how things might have turned out differently.
“When the rumours started going around, it was her, wasn’t it? I wished to make use of it in some way. I wanted to have a wedding where nothing went according to plan… That is not to claim that the aforementioned is in fact what transpired.
Rita continued by saying, “It was perfect,” as she described the events of their wedding day. ‘ It was exactly, exactly how I wanted.
‘It was nice and perfect. It is nice to keep some things just to myself sometimes it was nice and sweet… Sorry it’s not that interesting. One day I will throw a big party.’
On Friday, Rita also shared the music video for her most recent single. In the clip, she can be seen wearing a wedding dress as celebrity pals, such as Kristen Stewart and Lindsay Lohan, offer her well-wishes in the form of video messages that play on her television screen.
The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One from 7pm.
