Molly-Mae Hague has spoken up about the difficulties of being a new mother while working for herself, as she does not receive maternity leave.
The former Love Island actress and boyfriend Tommy Fury, 23, welcomed their daughter Bambi at the end of January and have spent the previous few months enjoying and getting to know their infant.
Molly, 23, returned to work for the first time since giving baby earlier this month, flying to the south of France for a photo session with PrettyLittleThing, the fast fashion brand that appointed her as creative director in 2021.
However, the journey was challenging for the influencer, who had not been separated from Bambi in three months.
Molly revealed in her most recent YouTube video that the business trip to Nice, France was ‘bittersweet’ and that she felt ‘homesick’ without her kid.
She then addressed the reason she had to return to work, explaining that as a self-employed worker with a large portion of her income coming from the PLT contract, her tanning firm, and social media, she is not eligible for the statutory maternity pay that other full-time moms may claim.
‘For the sake of two nights I just thought she’s going to have to stay at home and I’m going to have to go to work.’
The family quickly rejoined and travelled to Dubai, where Molly and Tommy gave the baby her first trip overseas.
Molly is said to be a multi-millionaire as a result of her successful business endeavours post-Love Island, with a claimed shared net worth of £9 million with boxer Tommy – Molly is thought to be worth £6 million.
Molly and Tommy bought a big home in Manchester in 2022, and the family lives there.
