Sharon Osbourne has spoken openly about her usage of the medicine Ozempic to lose weight, despite the fact that it was designed to treat diabetic patients.
When she took Ozempic to reduce weight, the former X Factor judge and wife of singer Ozzy Osbourne stated she “played the odds.”
Drugs like Ozempic and the prescription pharmaceutical Wegovy have emerged to the forefront of public knowledge as supposed weight reduction techniques, claiming to give a ‘fast and simple’ way to shed a few pounds.
However, the charity Diabetes UK explains the proper use of the drug for diabetic patients, stating on its website: ‘Ozempic is a type 2 diabetes medication which is prescribed to manage blood glucose levels. It is not a medication for people who do not have diabetes or are at risk of type 2 diabetes.’
According to the charity, some people are receiving Ozempic “via off-label prescription,” which is causing shortages for persons with type 2 diabetes who genuinely take it as treatment.
The charity also stresses that a prescription for Ozempic ‘should only be administered following an assessment by your healthcare team to make sure that you’ll benefit from its use’.
Sharon, 70, previously revealed that her weight reduction was due to the usage of a contentious celebrity weight loss injection, the same medicine that Boris Johnson apparently began but felt ill on.
Sharon informed Bill Maher on his podcast ‘Club Random’ that the drug’s negative effects for this use included nausea and a loss of appetite.
‘For me, the first few weeks was f****** s*** because you just throw up all the time. You feel so nauseous. After a couple of weeks, it goes,’ she said.
Sharon, who was sighted with her seldom seen oldest daughter Aimee last month, revealed that losing weight was not simple, despite Ozempic’s weight loss boasts.
‘You have a weight problem and you’ve tried everything, and then somebody says take this injection and you’re going to be skinny,’ the TV star said.
Sharon dropped some weight after using the medicine for four months, but she noted that “there’s never a quick recipe” for losing weight.
Bill, 67, stated that he would be concerned about taking ‘foreign chemicals’ to reduce weight and that it is a game of ‘always playing the odds,’ which Sharon agreed with.
Sharon said that she is no longer an Ozempic, although she still doesn’t get hungry after taking the appetite suppressant medicine.
She was left feeling ‘fine’ and ‘felt nothing’ after getting over her initial couple of weeks of sickness.
