Tom Cruise was unable to attend the Oscars on Sunday night, but he was able to celebrate Sir Michael Caine’s 90th birthday with David Walliams and Denise Welch.
Many were perplexed when the man credited with’saving film,’ Steven Spielberg, did not appear at the Oscars on Sunday night, but don’t worry – he had his reasons.
The 60-year-old actor was filming the forthcoming Mission: Impossible sequel, Dead Reckoning Part 2, which is set to be released in 2024.
But, the Jerry Maguire star took time out of his hectic schedule on Tuesday night to pose for photos with former Britain’s Got Talent judge David, 51, and his buddy Sir Michael on his big birthday, which he looked to commemorate with an intimate supper.
The children’s author shared photos of himself posing with Minority Report actor and Hollywood celebrity Sir Michael on social media.
The three is all grins in the photos, with Tom and Sir Michael seated side by side, seeming to be enjoying one other’s company.
David is only seen in one of his carousel of photos, standing behind Sir Michael and Tom as they all smile at the camera.
In one of the photos, Sir Michael appeared to be delivering a speech at the table, holding a microphone while the grateful dinner guests looked on.
It appeared to be a star-studded affair, with even Loose Women’s Denise Welch, 64, in attendance.
Denise celebrated the occasion with a lovely photo of herself cuddling Sir Michael from behind while he sat at the table.
She wrote alongside the image: ‘Happy 90th birthday Michael Caine!!! We love you.’
Denise has a history of hanging out with celebrities, having been photographed with Taylor Swift and Charli XCX during her son Matty Healy’s The 1975 shows.
Nevertheless, Sir Michael was recently photographed with disgraced former Prime Minister Liz Truss in an unlikely pairing.
Tom’s appearance comes after filmmaker Steven Spielberg hailed him and Top Gun: Maverick, in which he starred and produced, with saving cinema.
Steven said to Cruise at the 2023 Academy Luncheon: ‘You saved Hollywood’s a**, you might have saved theatrical distribution.’
Although the sequel to 1986’s Top Gun was not nominated for best picture, it did win for best sound.
Being the most grossing cinematic movie of 2022, the picture was a major box office triumph.
