Next year, Victoria Beckham won’t be reunited with the Spice Girls at Glastonbury, and it will take us between three and five work days to deal with this huge loss.
At first, there were rumours that all five members of the Wannabe group were going to get back together for a headlining performance at the Worthy Farm event in 2024, which would have been the 30th anniversary of the group.
Naturally, Spice Girls fans were over the moon, especially since band members have been hinting at a reunion in recent weeks and have even said that they “all” want to play at Glasto.
But we have to crush your dreams.
Now, someone who is close to Posh Spice says that she would rather focus on her fashion name.
Victoria, 49, has not ruled out a separate “celebratory show” with teammates Geri Horner, Mel B, Melanie C, and Emma Bunton, but she may not sing.
An insider told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: ‘Glastonbury is possibly the coolest gig on the planet but Victoria won’t be doing it next year.
‘She has carved herself a career as a fashion designer that she has put blood, sweat and tears into, so singing is something she has to carefully consider.
‘She has sadly been hugely ridiculed when she has sung in the past.’
They added: ‘She is a different person now. She looks back fondly on her years in the Spice Girls – they were very special for her – so she hasn’t ruled out a celebration, maybe, at some point.
‘And Glastonbury are not at all keen on having the group without Posh, it just doesn’t have the same pull.’
Victoria is going to be in a documentary about the group’s rise to fame in the 1990s that will be made by J.J. Abrams. The documentary will include interviews and never-before-seen footage from the group’s personal files.
The star didn’t go on the Spice Girls’ UK tour in 2019, and she said it took a lot of “confidence” for her to decide not to.
Victoria told Vogue: ‘It took me a lot of courage not to go on tour with the Spice Girls again, but to be the one who says, “You know, I’m not doing it because things feel different now than they used to”.’
The last time VB appeared with the girls was at the London Olympics in 2012, where they did a one-time show.
Sources have said, though, that there has been more touch between the five of them in the last six months than at any other time since their 2012 concert.
Now, Victoria can’t exactly blame fans for getting their hopes up about a reunion, given that Mel B recently addressed the speculation, saying: ‘I would love to but I’m just one of five. So we’ve got to figure that out.’
Teasing reunion plans, she added: ‘I mean, we’re constantly in talks.
‘There is something that we’re going to be doing all five of us, but nothing’s going to be announced just yet.
‘But it will be pretty soon!’
She said in another place that they are “going to make a statement” about Victoria rejoining the group.
So, what’s the truth, Mel?
