Deciding on a name for your new arrival is one of the hardest decisions to make.
Do you go traditional? A family name? Or something off the beaten track?
If you’re still unsure, a list of the most popular names in the UK has been released for 2022.
The top 100 names for baby boys and girls has been released by BabyCentre – highlighting the go-to options parents are continuing to pick.
It seems girls’ names have changed a little from previous years – while the boys have remained very similar.
And it looks like royals and high-profile events have affected the rankings this year.
Topping the list for the girls’ names is ‘Lily’ – perhaps inspired by Prince Harry and Meghan’s daughter Lillibet.
This was followed by Sophia in second place and Olivia dropping down to third position – after previously securing the top spot.
Also, after years of hanging around in the top 100 names for girls, ‘Amber’ has dropped off the list for the first time – which could be down to the recent high-profile celebrity court case.
Interestingly, BabyCentre also did not record any instances of parents registering their baby boys as called Johnny so far this year.
For the boys little changed at the top, as Muhammad and Noah occupy first and second place.
But Oliver – which has solidly taken third place for several years – dropped down the list while Jack soared to take its place.
Freddie and Harry are also no longer in the top 10, while Ethan and Oscar climbed up the rankings to take eighth and ninth place.
The full list of top 100 names can be found below.
