Dawn French is a mega Harry Styles fan and, honestly, we relate.
We’re trying not to be too jealous of the comedian, but that’s proving tricky since she attended an early screening of Harry’s upcoming movie, My Policeman.
Set in 1950s Brighton, My Policeman tells the story of policeman Tom Burgess, played by Harry, who embarks on a forbidden romance at a time when homosexuality was illegal.
Harry stars opposite The Crown’s Emma Corrin, who plays his wife and schoolteacher Marion. Meanwhile, David Dawson, plays museum curator and lover Patrick Hazlewood.
The film won’t be released for another two months yet, but some very lucky people have already seen it – with Dawn in particular absolutely loving it.
Taking to Instagram, she shared the official poster for the flick, which features an image of the As It Was hitmaker in his police uniform, strolling on the beach.

Her caption read: ‘Had the privilege of seeing a screening of this utter treat #mypoliceman at #newlynfilmhouse this morning. Directed by @michaelgrandagecompany’.
Heaping praise on the Dunkirk star, she added: ‘All cast tip top, but @harrystyles is a REVELATION. Boy can proper act!’.

Summing up the movie in three strong words, she concluded: ‘Beautiful, heartbreaking, sensual film. 👏👏’.
Fans didn’t exactly need hyping up any more, but Dawn’s post certainly got them excited, with followers commenting that they are ‘so excited’ to watch My Policeman now it’s ‘Dawn French approved’.

In the powerful story of queer love, cinema-goers can expect an insight into what life was like for gay men in the 50s, as Tom married Marion and suppresses his true feelings, ultimately, leaving Patrick’s life in ruins.
My Policeman will jump between the 50s, when the love triangle in full force, and 40 years later, when an older Tom (Linus Roache) and Patrick (Rupert Everett) are reunited when Patrick suffers a stroke and Marion (Gina McKee) agrees to take him under their wing.
The trailer doesn’t give much away, but certainly promises drama and emotion, with a whole load of blood, sweat, and tears going into the project after it took eight years to bring to life.
My Policeman is based on a book of the same name, written by Bethan Roberts in 2012.
After being directed by Michael Grandage, former One Direction star Harry has already been tipped for an Oscar for his role, and it’s wild to believe he only made his acting debut in 2017 with Christopher Nolan.
My Policeman isn’t the only flick Harry has coming this year, as he also stars alongside the likes of Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, and Gemma Chan in Don’t Worry Darling, directed by girlfriend Olivia Wilde and set to premiere next month.
My Policeman will have a limited release from October 21, 2022, before streaming on Amazon Prime Video from November 4, 2022.
