Prepare to quietly scream as the first trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One has arrived, and it is terrible.
The next film in the horror franchise has brought viewers back to the past, which means we may finally learn where the monsters come from and why they detest sound.
While we were all captivated by Emily Blunt and John Kransinski guiding their family through A Quiet Place in 2018 and its sequel in 2021, this signals a significant departure, with a completely new character having to battle the weird animals.
Day One, starring Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Hounsou from Stranger Things, will hit theatres on June 28.
In the teaser, they appear to be having fairly regular, separate days in New York before things take a bad turn.
Expect a lot of muttering, crying, and deafeningly silence pauses.
Towards the end, a message read: ‘This summer, discover why our world went quiet.’
Although nothing more is known about the film, Michael Sarnoski will direct it.
The summary merely says, “Experience the day the world went quiet.”
Fans couldn’t get enough of the quick preview and praised the clip on social media, immediately calling the sequel the’movie of the year’.
‘Joseph and Lupita are going to own literally every second of their screen time and I’m SEATED,’ a viewer cheered on Twitter.
‘This really might be up there for movie of the year I’m not even joking,’ another agreed.
A follower enthused: ‘So much chaos! This is exactly what I wanted when this film was announced and it seems like we’re in good hands. No words from Lupita and I already know she’s gonna nail this role too!’
‘THAT LOOKS INSANE OH MY GOD,’ one yelled.
‘I will take as many more of these movies that they want to give me – ESPECIALLY if you put Lupita in it,’ a commenter celebrated.
As a Twitter user added: ‘Unironically the most anticipated movie for me this year so far.’
John directed the first two films and co-starred with his wife, but he already announced that he would be turning over the reins for the impending blockbuster.
‘Even though I’m the guy who did the first two, I won’t be the guy or girl who does the last one or the last two. I know that. At the end of the day, this world is really fun to explore,’ he told the Hollywood Reporter.
‘This is an amazing sandbox to play in, and whether or not I’m the guy to do any more of them or how many more of them, I don’t know.
‘But I know that we’re really proud of the world we created. And the fact that it’s even strong enough to have this conversation about doing more is something we’re all really proud of.’
Bring it on.
A Quiet Place: Day One will be released in cinemas on June 28.
