Nobody can handle the first official trailer for the Mean Girls musical.
Before everyone gets too worked up over another’reboot,’ keep in mind that the next film, which will be released on January 12, is an adaptation of the popular Broadway musical inspired by the 2004 masterpiece, not a full revival…
Angourie Rice takes on the part of Cady Heron, as made famous by Lindsay Lohan, in the musical film, while Reneé Rapp channels her inner Regina George as the leader of the Plastics.
Tim Meadows and Tina Fey, who created the original, will reprise their roles, as have Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps, and Jon Hamm.
The preview was released earlier today and immediately triggered every Millennial who saw it with a rather vicious insult.
A message read: ‘This isn’t your mother’s Mean Girls.’

Anyone anyone feel personally harmed by the trailer creators?
Fans were understandably offended by the plainly offensive comment and took to Twitter to express their feelings.
A follower said: ‘Whoever came up with the copy, “This isn’t your mother’s Mean Girls” is going in my Burn Book!!!!!!!!’
Another fumed: ‘I cannot tell you how triggered I am by the “This isn’t your mother’s mean girls.” YOUR MOTHER???? YOUR MOTHER???!!!!’

‘Hate hate HATE that we’re at a point in time where Mean Girls can be referred to as “your mothers Mean Girls,”’ one wrote.
‘Okay, I was skeptical about a remake, but after seeing the cast, I am slightly less skeptical. But still skeptical. Also: “Not your mother’s Mean Girls” is incredibly rude and oddly fitting,’ a Twitter user posted.
A commenter agreed: ‘YOUR MOTHER’S?????? Deeply deeply deeply offended… but also excited.’
As a fan cried: ‘Not the “this isn’t your mother’s mean girls”… I AM GETTING TOO OLD.’
Honestly, hard same.

The musical is not exactly a reboot, but will closely follow the original content – with some new songs tossed in.
Tina will reprise her role as Ms Norberry, while Tim will portray Mr Duvall, with a fresh new cast entering the ranks at North Shore High School.
The official synopsis reads: ‘From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, Mean Girls.
‘New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika).
‘However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs.
‘As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.’
The Mean Girls musical is released in cinemas on January 12, 2024.
