The latest offering from Oscar-winning director Jordan Peele is heading to UK cinemas.

Following in the footsteps of Get Out and Us, sci-fi horror Nope follows the story of two ranchers who experience strange and extraordinary phenomena from the skies.

The film stars the likes of Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun in the lead roles.

Speaking about the film on CBS Morning, Peele said: ‘First and foremost, I wanted to make a UFO horror film. And then of course it’s like, where is the iconic Black UFO film?

‘And whenever I feel that my favorite movie out there hasn’t been made, that’s the void I’m trying to fill with my films.

‘It’s like trying to make the film that I wish someone would make for me.’

But when can you watch Nope? Here’s everything we know:

When will Nope be released in the UK?

Despite being released in the US on July 22, UK film fans have had to wait to see the latest Jordan Peele offering.

Nope will be released in the UK on August 12, and those wanting to stream the film from home won’t have to wait much longer either.

Sky confirmed that Nope will be coming to the digital Sky Store in September, which could mean other services such as Amazon Prime Video will also have a digital release date coming.

What is the plot?

Lots of secrecy has surrounded Nope and its plot ahead of its release.

Peele is well known for not sharing the plots of his films, and the movie’s website contains no official synopsis.

A synopsis for the film on Rotten Tomatoes reads: ‘Two siblings who run a California horse ranch discover something wonderful and sinister in the skies above, while the owner of an adjacent theme park tries to profit from the mysterious, otherworldly phenomenon.’

Who is in the cast?

Daniel Kaluuya earned his first Oscar nomination for his lead role in Peele’s debut Get Out, so fans won’t be surprised to see the actor and director team up once more for Nope as he takes on the role of OJ Haywood.

Keke Palmer stars in the film as OJ’s sister Emerald Haywood, with Keith David in the role as their father, Otis Haywood Sr.

Brandon Perea takes on the role of tech expert Angel Torres, Michael Wincott plays cinematographer Antlers Holst, and Steven Yeun stars as theme park owner Ricky ‘Jupe’ Park.

Other stars include Wrenn Schmidt as Amber Park, and Barbie Ferreira as Nessie.

Is there a trailer?

The final trailer for Nope was released in June, revealing more about the film’s plot.

The trailer begins with OJ Haywood spotting a large red light in the sky before his father falls from his horse.

The next scene reveals his father has died and his bloody body is revealed, and Oj and his sister Emerald discuss what OJ saw in the sky.

This is interspersed with clips of Ricky ‘Jupe’ Park delivering a rousing speech to a crowd in front of a covered box.

The trailer then moves on to scenes of OJ and Emerald trying to capture the extraterrestrial activity on film, before strange things begin happening around the farm as they, Angel Torres and Antlers Holst deduce that they may have ‘p****d them off’.

Nope comes to UK cinemas August 12.
