Following the emergence of a viral video, social media users have been sharing their astonishment and disgust over Kevin Smith’s contentious body horror Tusk.
Tusk was written and produced by the Clerks director and follows Wallace Bryton, played by Justin Long, the co-host of a popular video-mocking podcast who comes across a flier from Howard Howe offering a room in return for hearing what he claims to be great stories.
Wallace finds himself in a life-threatening predicament after accepting the man’s offer owing to Howard’s infatuation with a walrus named Mr Tusk, whom he claims saved his life.
The picture, which also starred Haley Joel Osment, Michael Parks, Genesis Rodriguez, and Jennifer Schwalbach Smith, split fans and critics at the time of its release, with many dismissing it and others being appalled by some of its more explicit sequences.
The film is back in the limelight when TikTok user Heidi Wong claimed it was the ‘worst she’d ever seen.’
‘This one gets to me the most out of all the horror films I’ve watched,’ she added, adding that it’s ‘worse than The Human Centipede,’ a 2009 horror film in which a German doctor kidnaps three tourists and sutures them together mouth to anus.
Fans of the film Tusk flocked to the comments section to express their amazement, questioning when they would ‘be able to forget’ the horrible film.
‘I want to forget about tusk, plz, I beg,’ one user wrote, with another saying: ‘I can’t watch this film ever again the sight of him makes me feel physically ill.’
Others said they had been left ‘traumatised’ by the film, with others joining Heidi in comparing the film to Tom Six’s The Human Centipede.
One person said: ‘I can watch Human Centipede but Tusk? Yeah, I’ll pass. Had me shook and nauseous! Lol just a 3min clip!’
‘I have been forever traumatized by the snippets I’ve seen of the movie on this platform it gives me chills,’ another added, while someone else said they ‘dreamt about that damn walrus for weeks.’
Many said it was a movie they will ‘never watch again’ after being left ‘disturbed’ by its content.
Others, on the other hand, were eager to praise the film’s other aspects, especially its comic talents.
One user commented: ‘I don’t understand why everyone is so freaked out abt this movie… it’s literally a comedy.’
Another agreed: ‘I laughed so hard at the weird twist, and then when I saw “Directed by Kevin Smith” immediately into the credits, it all made sense lmao trolled.’

Those who are interested in Tusk after viewing Heidi’s video may watch it for free on Amazon Prime Video.
With Long hinting at a possible sequel, horror fans may be in for a second dose of odd.
Speaking at a special screening of Barbarian last year hosted by SlashFilm, the actor said: ‘You’ll be happy to hear, Kevin [Smith] just announ – I mean, I guess they’re talking about it. They’re doing Tusk 2, I think.
‘He texted us all the other day, Haley [Joel Osment] and Genesis [Rodriguez], and he told us that he wanted to do it, and I thought it was a joke. And then I realized he was being serious.’
The possibility of a sequel has been suggested before, with Kevin himself mentioning it during a Twitch live in 2020.
