Are you already thinking about where you want to go on vacation?
Airbnb has disclosed their top destination forecasts for the upcoming year, which include both international and domestic destinations in the United Kingdom.
Already, people from the United Kingdom have been looking into and making reservations for trips to Spain, France, New Zealand, and Australia.
And it would appear that individuals are searching either for cheaper, shorter-distance places or for more extensive travel opportunities.
Also, after what is anticipated to be a frugal winter for many people, it is anticipated that staycations will continue to be popular.
According to Airbnb, Tyne and Wear is projected to be the most popular location on British territory for us to vacation in during our time here.
In general, it seems that the north of England and Scotland are popular choices for domestic vacations, while the hotspots of Spain are at the top of the trendy international destinations list.
Airbnb’s top trending travel spots for 2023 international travel:
- Málaga, Spain
- Marseille, France
- Ibiza, Spain
- Lyon, France
- Kaş, Turkey
- Melbourne, Australia
- Auckland, New Zealand

Airbnb has discovered that many people are hoping to escape the chilly weather by favouring warmer places this winter. This could possibly explain why Australia is ranking so highly, given it is just entering its summer period at the moment.
‘Our data shows that British holidaymakers are exploring both the nearest and farthest corners of the globe for their 2023 escapes, with the north of England and Scotland proving particularly popular for domestic holidays, while sunny hotspots in Spain top the trending international destinations list,’ said Amanda Cupples, general manager for Northern Europe at Airbnb.
The phrase “beach and pool categories proving to be the most popular for bookings over the festive period” comes from the observation that “when the cold closes in, we often find searches for brighter climes on the rise,” and “this year has been no exception.”
