Lindsay White has opened up about having an abortion when she learnt of her husband’s prison sentence after injuring two intruders on This Morning.
Adam White, 34, was arrested in an episode of 24 Hours in Police Custody after crashing into two would-be thieves who had attempted to break into his home.
The electrician pursued Taylor Benford and Ryan Paul, both 25, who fled in motorbikes, before ‘hitting’ into the back of them.
In the Channel 4 show White explained he ‘didn’t realise how sharp’ the bend was and misjudged it, meaning his Mercedes 4×4 knocked into intruders.
Both Benford and Paul were rushed to hospital after the accident and White was later jailed for 22 months for causing serious injury by dangerous driving at Luton Crown Court.
At the same court, Benford and Paul were given suspended sentences and 200 hours community service for the attempted burglary.
Mr and Mrs White both appeared on Tuesday’s This Morning where they discussed and shared regret over the evening with hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
Mrs White, who shares two children with her husband, also spoke about deciding to have an abortion having fallen pregnant ‘days’ before the incident happened.
Willoughby, 41, asked: ‘You were pregnant? Normally, for the pair of you, this would have been a joyous moment, but it wasn’t something you felt that you could enjoy. And it led to you making a decision, didn’t it?’
Mrs White replied: ‘We must have fallen pregnant days before the incident happened or a week maybe. And just kind of faced with that decision; people don’t understand it was the hardest decision we had to make.
‘But he was told that he would face prison time for his charge, and it was a case of, can I survive on my own? Although there are parents out there that can, we already have two children, we’re supporting a mortgage and all the bills.’
The Wylde Moon founder called it a ‘personal choice’, with Mrs White adding she’d faced a ‘backlash’ for the decision when it ‘became public.’
Mr White said: ‘It’s the stress of you carrying a child for the nine months and not knowing where we actually stand because we didn’t actually have a charge until further on down the line.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
