Amanda Holden, Alan Carr’s friend and TV co-star, scolded him for slipping a naughty term live on the BBC.
The comedian, 47, and the Britain’s Got Talent judge, 52, appeared on The One programme on Friday (January 12) to promote the second season of their restoration programme, Italian Job.
Alan and Amanda were obviously having a lot of fun together.
As the much-loved couple reflected on their recent journey to Tuscany, where they bought a house and refurbished it for one euro before selling it and donating the proceeds to charity, they mentioned how the property they purchased was slightly haunted.
A video shows Alan and Amanda investigating the home when they heard tapping noises from what they assumed were spirits.
At the time, Alan admitted he was ‘overwhelmed’, while Amanda assured the spirits that they were only inside the house with the intention of ‘doing good’.
When One Show host Roman Kemp asked Alan if he was ‘genuinely frightened’ about confronting a ghost, he responded with an NSFW term.
‘It was terrifying,’ he exclaimed.
‘It put the willies up me!’
Of fact, ‘putting the willies up’ is a well-known expression that refers to something terrifying or anxiety-inducing – but the hosts weren’t expecting Alan to use it at 7 p.m. on BBC One.
Amanda slapped the comic on the knee for laughing after understanding what he had said.
‘This is a family show!’, she scolded.
‘What? What!’, Alan said, feigning innocence.
Radio DJ Roman struggled to keep it together, covering his face as he chuckled while Amanda and Alex Jones attempted to move the conversation forward.
‘Let’s keep going,’ Amanda giggled.
The frantic couple then stated that there was definitely’something there’ in terms of spirits in the Italian home.
‘We found out who it was,’ Amanda added.
‘It was Rosa, who was the very sweet old lady who used to own it, so then we felt better because we felt like she was, kind of, watching over us. Then we felt like we had to do a good job for her.’
Amanda admitted that filming was ’emotional’ at times, considering the connection she and Alan had to the property and having looked through old images of the previous owners.
The sweet conversation didn’t last long, though, as Alan was soon back to swooning over the ‘fit’ Italian men he met on the trip.
Alex probed: ‘The big question is, did you get yourself an Italian stallion because that was, kind of, as well as renovating, that was the other sub-plot.’
‘He was fit, weren’t he? He was fit,’ Alan declared.
When reminded by Amanda that Luca was, sadly, ‘attached’, Alan didn’t seem too fussed.
‘Well, they’re Italian!’, he said, to which Amanda once again scolded: ‘Please don’t write that in.’
‘Sweeping generalisation!’, Alan cackled, earning a barrel of laughs from the studio crew.
Never change, Alan!
For the record, Alan is, in fact, in a relationship himself and seems more than happy dating hairdresser Callum Heslop, 27!
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer. Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
